Book Review: A very nice book, the best one !!!

This book is organized into 3 sections : 1) - Concepts : Groove, cross-training, time matters, second-line applications, odd times ... ; 2) - Masters speak : Maximize your soloing, comping with great drummers ( Philly Joe Jones, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Max Roach ... ) ; 3) - The chop shop : The warm-up, the Moeller stroke ... Some of these lessons will be absorbed immediately or will require several hours, days or months ! To help you, many examples are played on the CD so that you can hear the sound, balance and feeling, very nice ! This book is a great supplement to the prior books ( "The Art of Bop Drumming" and "Beyong Bop drumming" ), I highly recommend these 3 books, it will help you to understand the drummer's role in a jazz band, to improve your fluidity, level, technique, groove, creativity, musicianship ... I wish I could take lessons wiyh John Riley, if you can, go on !!! He is a renowned player, teacher and author, has performed with a who's who in the jazz music field ! This book is highly recommended, I enjoy it every day, one of the best jazz book I ever had, you can trust me !!! Emilio Leroy ( France - Dordogne ).
