Book Reviews of The Indian in the CupboardBook Review: A Pleasant Surprise! Summary: 5 Stars
I checked this out from the library, mainly because of the limited selection of books on CD that would be appropriate for all of my children to listen. A friend had recommended it, but frankly she didn't do it justice. I was expecting a rather mindless, entertaining children's story. Instead I found it thought provoking and touching. The message that real maturity comes with real responsibility left me rethinking my parenting approach of waiting for maturity to happen before I give responsiblity. (Ok it's only children fiction I haven't acutally changed anything yet.)
The other big surprise was the reading talent of the author. When I saw that the book was read by the author I was expecting a mediocre performance. As a regular audiobook listener I have to say Lynn Reid Banks is one of the best.
Book Review: " Long Live " The Indian Summary: 5 Stars
This story takes place somewhere in the past at Omri's room. It's important to talk about his room because the Indian(Little Bear) lives in a magic cupboard in Omri's room. The reason it mostly takes place in Omri's room is because almost everything happens in his room.
This book is mostly about a boy named Omri and his Indian that came to life by a magic cupboard. The cupboard is small and white with a mirror in it and on the outside, it has a keyhole. In the middle of the story, Omri figures out that he can turn plastic figures into real people.
In my opinion, I think this book is great because of the plastic figures turning into real people. I also like it because he does interesting things. I would recommend this book because it is a great book and I think you would like it too.
Book Review: Amazing Adventure From Start To Finish Summary: 5 Stars
The Indian in The Cupboard is one of my all time favorite reads. I read it along time ago, and because of an assignment in class, hurriedly read it again just the other day. The excitement and genuine interest in the book has not been changed. The way that Lynn Reid Banks captures your imagination is incredible. Who would not love to have a little friend that you have control over, like a little fantasy world. She takes an idea that I am sure many young kids have, and through her writing, makes it so real that it seems almost attainable. Overall, I would give this book a 10 out of 10 for younger readers. If you are an older reader with an open mind, and willing to give in to your imagination, then I would also strongly promote this book.
Book Review: Great for people with imagination! Summary: 5 Stars
This book was amazing! I find many books that I liked but this one's in the top ten. Lynne Reid Banks must have a lot of imagination if she is able to create a full and exciting book with a boy and an action figure. I remember that when I was growing up I always wanted to have my toys come alive. This story is terriffic and now that I have the sequel I can't wait to read it. I also plan on reading the other books. I got the list of this series and listed it below. The Indian in the Cupboard The Return of the Indian (the one I'm reading) The Secret of the Indian The Mystery of the Cupboard The Key to the Indian. I plan on reading all these books in order and enjoying them from cover to cover.
Book Review: The Indian in the Cupboard Summary: 5 Stars
The story of The Indian Cupboad starts out when Omri recieves a birthday gift from his older brother. A small medicine cupboard. Who would want that? Omri. He was joyous over is new found treasure. His best friend Patrick gave Omri his birthday gift. A small second-hand plastic Indian. Of course, no one would want that, not even Omri, as he had long but outgrew playing with action figures. But then a combination of the cupboard, the plastic Indian, and a very special key reveals a world of little alive people, not toys, because toys don't have lives and a personality, but people, very much, do. This book has cliffhanging suspense and is one of the best reads I've had in a long time.
