Book Review: Iceman: A Mafia Killer, But There's More To The Story

I read this book and it was far deeper and more meaningful than I expected it would be. The author creates a complicated and ultimately, an oddly sympathetic character as he tells the true-life story of a hitman.
If a dog is kicked in the head enough times, and denied adequate food and water, sooner or later, he'll turn into a vicious animal. Really, that is exactly what happened to Richard Kuklinski and his younger brother. Their neglectful and abusive parents birthed two human monsters. Richard's brother, convicted of raping and murdering a little girl, died in prison after years of well-deserved abuse, beatings and torment from other inmates. Richard's crimes never involved children or women, only men he was paid to kill.
The graphic descriptions of sadistic killings are appropriate for the subject matter but highly disturbing. Ultimately, this is a very sad and difficult book to read, and in fact, it took me months to finish reading it.
