Book Reviews of The House of the Spirits

Book Review: Favorite book
Summary: 5 Stars

I was glad I read this book. I now have a better understanding of why the mentality of the Chilean people is how it was or is. This book brought me back to the landscapes of my childhood summers in Chile and playing on the beach right bellow the Poet's house described in the book.
It's a shame I never read any of the Isabele Allende novels until now.

Book Review: Number one book
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book 8 years ago while in high school for extra credit. Ever since then this book has been my favorite of all time. Isabel Allende is a magical author who weaves an absolutley beautiful and magical story throughout 3 generations. I would be amazed to find someone who was not under this books spell.

Book Review: Imaginative
Summary: 5 Stars

Isabel Allende has written a most imaginative novel. Her development of her characters is great, and the result is a fascinating story of a family in an magical and fictional country. Her description of the people, the country, and their interaction is skilled much as the novels of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Her message is one of a thoughtful nature, but is tastefully linked with very subtle humor. This is a masterpiece.

Book Review: Amazing, Fantastic Story!
Summary: 5 Stars

What a great read! Its fascinating to follow the life and character's in Isabelle Allende's story. It's even more interesting to note that a lot of the character's were based on actual family members and to this day those family members had stopped speaking to her. The story is intriguing as it is written from a number perspectives and there never seems to be a dull moment. The only bad part about the book was that it ended! Recommend it for everyone!

Book Review: The House of Spirits
Summary: 2 Stars

Do not understand why this was a best seller. Perhaps something might have been lost in the translation: my interest to continue past the third chapter. Finished it then left it in auto repair waiting area.
