Book Reviews of The House of Yes

Book Review: a brilliant, twisted ride
Summary: 5 Stars

Upon finishing The House of Yes, I decided that it was without a doubt one of the best plays I have ever read. Set in the dysfunctional Pascal home during a hurricane on Thanksgiving, the audience gets a glimpse at the incestuous relationship of twins Jackie-O and Marty, their fascination with the Kennedy assasination, and what happens when an outsider (Marty's doughtnut shop worker fiancee Lesly) is thrown into the mix. Wendy MacLeod has written a brilliant play and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, black comedy.

Book Review: Nothing that I expected!
Summary: 5 Stars

I devoured this in a half hour. As a theatre major, a friend of mine told me to look into the mother's role. I hate being typecast as a mom, so I went into it semi-hesitantly. I was seriously surprised and taken aback at the family dynamics so different from anything in our social norms. The play is daring, quick-paced, and brutally honest in its look at the dangerous topic of incest.

Book Review: SICK,TWISTED,HILARIOUS DARK COMEDY
Summary: 5 Stars

One of the funniest things I've ever read, this is a pretty tragic dark comic play about a young woman who is obsessed with Jackie Kennedy to the point of being called "Jackie-O".

Hilarious, strange, sick and wrong...but ultimately wonderful.

Rubbed some people the wrong way.

Book Review: A twisted family will never let love die
Summary: 4 Stars

House of yes was so different from what I expected. It was brilliant but really sick, and I apprecitaed that. While reading it and later watching the movie I wondered if the author ever knew anyone in her life that represented the character Jackie O. She was so perfect and I loved her. If the author ever reads this I want you to know that your writing in this case (first of your work I have read) was unique and I wanted more! Alexis Rain

Book Review: Not as I expected
Summary: 3 Stars

I saw the film with Parker Posey and bought the script with the hope to find some more details. But the film was in every way better and the script alone can not stand at the height of the film.
