Book Review: Wonderful!!!

I started to read the Silmarillion, and then I read these. I had never liked poetry beforehand, I had actually rather detested it, but I loved the poetry in here. I many respects, I actually prefer these to the Silmarillion because these are longer and more in depth. However, if you don't feel like reading 50 pages of something with tons of footnotes and endnotes, you probably shouldn't read these.Book Review: For Serious fans only

I find these books very confusing and it's hard to read but in order to understand Tolkien's world better. My favorite is the second book of lost tales but it was really confusing. The shaping of Middle earth was good too but it was even harder. I would suggest reading the Similarion first because that will help you to understand these books and if you can't understand that one don't buy this set.Book Review: Excellent

Although difficult to read at times, the series FULLY describes the shaping of Middle Earth and beyond. It does at times feel like a history book, but it was still incredible. And by the way... AWESOME COLLECTION. LOTS OF READING AND PIECING THE STORIES TOGETHER. JRR TOLKIEN WAS A BRILLIANT MAN AND WITH THE HELP OF HIS SON THEY WERE ABLE TO HELP PIECE TOGETHER SOME OF THE QUESTIONS PEOPLE HAD HOW THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY CAME ABOUT. What can I say, more detail and stories from middle earth. I love it, can't get enough. I'm so glad these lost and unorganized thoughts of Tolkien where put together for us to glean more info on The Lord of the Rings! Awesome!
