Book Review: The Historian--not Bram Stoker, but still great!

Okay, so I'm a closet Bram Stoker lover. I absolutely love gothic vampire (but I insist on well-done, not cheesy) novels. This novel by Ms. Kostova didn't disappoint me. From her descriptions of Romania, to the legendary vampire, to the secret society hunting him down, this novel kept me turning pages deep into the night. I hope Ms. Kostova turns out another spellbinding tale soon.

This was a great story that was hard to put down, however towards the end the historical aspects got to be a bit lengthy and a tad boring. The story has three basic and easy to follow story lines that a equally compelling. But for the length of the book I think the end was rushed and came abruptly and slightly disappointed.Book Review: An enjoyable read

Although the book is too long, and some of the plot twists are unnecesary, Ms. Kostova spins a fascinating yarn, and her use of language is first-rate: every so often I would put down the book and think, "Now, that's a great description!", or "That's a neatly-turned phrase!". All in all, a book to be savored slowly.Book Review: Very Interesting, I really enjoyed it....

I had wanted to read this for a while, but the size of the book kept me away. I am glad I did. This was fun and interesting. The book was at times confusing and long, but very enjoyable. Especially when written by a University of Michigan graduate....Book Review: Good read
