Book Reviews of The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching: Transforming Suffering into Peace, Joy, and Liberation

Book Review: great book in general
Summary: 5 Stars

this book could be a little difficult as a total introduction, but i feel that Thich Nhat Hanh has a very deep understanding of the religion that is communicated quite effectively to the reader. as a person who's greatly interested in buddhist philosophy but not practicing or studying through a particular school, i think this is a great book to read. i feel that buddhism is a "religion" that is very hard to grasp, and is constantly misunderstood, but the author handles and explains it very well.

Book Review: Love this book
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned the hard copy of this book for a few years now & recently purchased the Kindle edition. While not a buddhist - the words written in this book help to calm me in times of stress. Seems to me that this book gives a great blueprint on how to live a good, clean, peaceful life. Great for anybody of any faith (as Thich Nhat Hanh says "Buddha is not a god"). I've read this book from cover to cover at least 10 times & am sure I will read it at least 10 more.

Book Review: Very pleased
Summary: 5 Stars

While some parts of this book are a little too deep for me at this moment, I am finding it is changing my life. My outlook on the world around me and how I deal with everyday things has become dramatically different. Following the Buddha's teachings is giving me a positive attitude no matter what comes my way, thus enhancing my life and the lives of those around me. I look forward to more learning from Thich Nhat Hanh, he has an amazing way of explaining things.

Book Review: as usual thich nhat hanh is amazing
Summary: 5 Stars

an excellent book. it's like listening to someone who truly knows what makes people suffer and therefore can easily explain how to remedy this. thich nhat hanh is one of the greatest buddhist authors of all time. in this book he explains, in detail, the buddhist teachings of the four noble truths and also of the eight fold path. it's complete with diagrams and in depth explanations of the human condition as well as solutions to emotional and moral dilemmas.

Book Review: good book for starters
Summary: 5 Stars

I had this book on the shelf and didn't really get around to reading it until I'd come back from visiting a sister in New York City just after 9/11.
Just reading the first few words of the first chapter got me to reading and re-reading the rest of this book.
It is an easy read and I also strongly recommend Thich Nhat Hanh's other books like "Going Home: Jesus and Buddha as Brothers", "Being Peace", "Living Buddha, Living Christ".
