This book is a great guide for the beginner gun owner. Ayoob is a great writer who simplifies things to a level that anyone understands. More important than giving you technical information about handguns, ammo, stances, etc. (which is very good by the way), this book makes you think from a different and practical perspective regarding to personal, home defense and responsible gun ownership.Book Review: Good Basic Information

Good basic gun handling information. The information is a little outdated on some issues, but this is expected as gun laws and conceal-carry laws are always evolving. I enjoyed reading and have given it to friends to read.
This book is worth the money for a entry level shooter/gun owner who has not taken a lot of classes or training.

Massad Ayoob is the greatest mind in defensive handguns today. I have been shooting rifles, shotguns, and pistols since I was about six. I am about to turn thirty nine, and I learned more about technique by reading this book than I did in the previous 33 years. I have read several of his books, and I recommend reading anything Massad writes.Book Review: excellent reference material

this is an excellent source of information about all aspects of handgun areas. from ammo, to sights, to the type of handgun needed for your purposes. the author gives the type of details that, as is mentioned in the book, 'this info could save your life'. Great book, with a mindblowing amount of information. Aimed at training cops, but useful info to civilians, especially about disarming armed people if need be. Also love that he included info on Reverend Kenneth Blanchard and Kenn's book "Black Man With a Gun."
