Book Reviews of The Gun Digest Book Of Concealed CarryBook Review: Really good book on this subject Summary: 5 Stars
I started "carrying" about 5 months ago, and did as much research on the web as I could and got a lot of good information. Ayoob does a wonderful job of "congealing" all of that information that I found, and much much more, into an easy to read book that covers all aspects of concealed carry. He talks about the reasons to carry, training, guns to use, clothing, maintaining concealment, legal issues, and more. He thinks of aspects of this that you don't. Period. Then he draws from his impressive training and learning to explain it to you. A book like this is rare.
It's published by Gun Digest and printed almost like a thick magazine in black and white. The pages are large but easy to read. Lots of illustrations. I cannot recommend this book enough.
Book Review: Finally evidence of what we've heard as "true" Summary: 5 Stars
Mas does it again. Everyone who carries has heard an opinion of "carry reloads" or "carry factory" for ammo - not to mention every other opinion for carry purposes. Mas (Massad Ayoob - Principal of Lethal Force Institute) goes through not only logical reasons, but when appropriate he documents court cases for everything he suggests. This includes types of carry guns, ammo choices, holster choices, acceptable levels of caliber, methods of weapons presentation, etc. Tom Gresham said it right - this book is and will be an instant classic for those who choose to carefully and legally exercise their rights under the 2nd Amendment.
Book Review: Concealed Carry review Summary: 5 Stars
I just finished reading the Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry by Massad Ayoob. It was an excellent book. Very well written. Easy to read and understand with a lot of photos. It was also very thorough and covered a lot of information on the aspects of concealed carry. I think this is an excellent book for someone considering or new to concealed carry or using a handgun for personal protection. I recommend this book strongly to anyone looking to find out more about the subject of concealed carry. After all, this is a life or death issue that you cannot afford to take lightly. Buy the book. You'll be glad you did.
Book Review: Thoughts on Massad Ayoob's Latest Book Summary: 5 Stars
As a long time reader of Massad Ayoob's writings I am always pleased with the way he can take information which he has presented before and present it in an informative, entertaining manner. There is not much that is "new" here but the presentation allows the reader to look at the familiar in a new way. I loaned my copy of "Concealed Carry" to a friend who is a concealed carry instructor and highly experienced shooter; he ordered his own copy after finishing reading the book. I think that that action speaks highly of the quality of Massad Ayoob's work.
Book Review: Great reference book Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the few firearms books that I've purchased. Most of my learning has been from NRA classes or from online references. The author's name continued to show up in article after article, so when I wanted an authoritative source for concealed carry, his book was at the top of my list. Mr. Ayoob uses personal experiences and the experiences of his students to describe real-life reasons to support his conclusions. While you may not normally read a reference book from front to back, this book is one that you will want to read all the way through.
