Book Review: Around the World in your Slow Cooker

I agree with the other reviewers who have mentioned that the recipes in this book require more preparation than the traditional "five minute crock pot" books. There are plenty of those out there. This book will appeal to the cook who wants to take advantage of the slow cooker's ability to tenderize meat and build flavors. And have the whole house smelling like the best restaurant you've ever been in.
I was interested to see how the chocolate chip cookies would come out, since I'm used to baking them in the oven. They were fantastic, chewy and full of flavor. Next came the Chicken Mole, which required a bit of work, roasting and grinding the seeds, roasting and soaking the dried chiles and blending the sauce. But I bought the book for the flavor, and the end product was incredible. I have to admit the recipe made for way too much sauce, but what I didn't use I saved for later. Today I made the Dal from the India chapter and will add it to my weekly rotation.
From the other reviews, I guess I'll have to try the Tarragon Chicken next. Get out there and taste the world with this short but very useful book.
