I picked this book up randomly at the library and devoured it. There was not a dull page within and not one wasted word - a fault in which too many authors engage. The setting and time was well defined with action rather than endless description. The characters were rich and the outrageous events within the story were well presented in a believable way. This action packed adventure is a must read for anyone, young or old, who likes a good story. And who doesn't?Book Review: A fantastical tale

This is a book that has to be read for the sheer pleasure of the tale itself. There should be no analyzing of proper form. Just read the thing and enjoy it. Ren is a boy who must be stronger than his fate and the characters he meets have very few trustworthy qualities to help him in his quest to find his family. However, these same characters become honorable and loyal and true. It is a great original story. It's exciting and kinda scary. Just enjoy it.Book Review: A GREAT read!!!

I love a book that entertains, and this one does in spades! I knew, once I laughed on the first page, that I was in for a treat! What a *great* book!!! I was so sorry to come to the last page. I highly, highly, recommend this book to anyone who loves to read - who enjoys being entertained and who doesn't mind staying up all night devouring a great book!!!

I adored this book! This is the best book I have read in such a long time. I hope Hannah Tinti writes more books. I am recommending this book to everybody I meet. I loved the twists and turns she takes you on. I also loved that I was not one step ahead on the author figuring out what would happen next. I never understood the term "instant classic" until I read this book. This is beautifully written, magnificently composed and, undeniably, a small masterpiece. It's an adventurous yarn that will keep you up at night. I highly recommend it as a gift, as a book to be read aloud, as something to be deliciously devoured.
