Book Reviews of The Good GuyBook Review: Gripping..Unable To Put It Down Summary: 4 Stars
This book really deserves 4 1/2 stars because it was one of the best books I have read and I've read some really good books lately. I have never read a Dean Koontz novel before but I will surely read many more going forward.
It's about a contract killing that goes awry from the beginning and how innocent people got involved and got dead along this killer's path of destruction. I was so engrossed in this book, I read it in two days.
I was actually afraid to read the end of it because I so wanted it to end a certain way and it was making me nervous getting to that point to see where and how it would climax. I was that involved in this book. Never before has a book taken me to these depths.
I highly recommend this book to all thriller and mystery readers.
Book Review: Surprisingly Good !!! Summary: 4 Stars
Fans of Stephen King often knock Koontz as the runner-up of horror. I thought this book was nicely done, well-paced, full of twists and turns, and the bad guy was an especially great character, unique and surprising and great fun in his sick, evil way. The tension started fast and never let up. The way the hero and the heroine fell in love was totally predictable, but I liked them and wanted them to be together. It helped that each of them had a startling back story full of over-the-top drama that only came out piece by piece, creating new mysteries within the overall story. This helped draw me in and kept the pages turning. This book was great fun.
Book Review: We All Need a Hero Summary: 4 Stars
The Good Guy is about our hero, Tim, who is in the wrong place at the right time. He is a good guy and your average thirty year old that is engaged and wants to have a family. Through a chance encounter at a bar, his whole life is almost ruined trying to help out a total stranger. The book is less supernatural than Koontz's other books, but no less interesting. I disagree with other reviews that say there is no supernatural, because Tim is the chosen one by fate and definitely does a lot of things your average "good guy" could not do. If you want some thrilling entertainment, read this book. Power Path to Love
Book Review: Koontz at his best Summary: 4 Stars
This is one of Koontz's books that I could follow. I've never seen a more versatile author when it comes to writing styles. Because of this, I can't say that I'm a fan of all his work. I did like: Cold Fire, The Strangers, Whispers, and Life Expectancy...to name a few. I couldn't sink my teeth into the Odd Thomas series, though.
Koontz is one of the most unique writers out there today. I can only hope to have the fan base he's earned over the years.
Book Review: Suspenseful with a hero you fall in love with... Summary: 4 Stars
I can't read Stephen King, but when he suggests a book he always picks a winner. Mr. King put this book on his top 10 of 2008 and it deserves to be there. The book takes off from the very first page on a suspenseful chase story, which most importantly stars intersting, unique people. I had great fun reading it. And I must add that I find Mr. Koontz positive ending combined with his ridicule off all things "bleak" applause worthy.
