Book Reviews of The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement

Book Review: must read for manufacturing engineering student
Summary: 5 Stars

I was pretty surprised at how good and informative this book was when I was reading it. It took me almost no effort at all to keep reading. This book gives you a glimpse of the responsibilities a manufacturing management have and the problem that they have to solve. It is an eye opener for anyone in management that is interested in the fundamentals of running a business. The narrator walks you through all the steps and processes on overcoming problems so you'd get a sense of what the logic is behind every solution. One good point that I got out of this book is that don't just follow the common practice, instead use your common sense.

Book Review: a must-buy book for industries [Dian K.]
Summary: 5 Stars

The book talked about how to solve problems that I believe many companies face on their production line. I believe this book is very good book for not only people in industries but also for students to learn and see how they can use their knowledge to solve problems that industries faced. This book talks about theory of constraints which is the core problem of many companies along with bottleneck situation. By reading this book I now can see it clearly how all the classes that I took in school are so related in the real life. This book is awesome. Recommended not only for students and industries, but also for those who want to add knowledge to them.

Book Review: Excellent book that clearly establishes the true goal of an Enterprise
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a must read for anyone new to the business world. It drills on the basic question of what is the goal of an organization or an enterprise. Then taking some case study from the supply chain world it drills down into more subtle questions to find bottlenecks in an organization, suggest improvements, drive efficiences etc.

Overall a simple, easy to read material especially for new comers in the business world. Since most cases are cited from the supply chain it might not suit that well to high paced software or internet world. However the fundamental concepts show cased here do apply in general to broad industries.

Book Review: Excellent introduction to TOC and entertaining to read!
Summary: 5 Stars

There are quite a few management principles simplified in "THE GOAL". But that's not the reason I'm writing this review. This is the first business book I read and laughed out loud a few time. I had listened the audio long time ago, so I could recall the tone and it was fun. Obviously, this is the main book if you want to know about basics theory of constraints. It has value for fun, business concepts and introduces the theory of constraints well enough to get you ready for a formal training and start experimenting with it. If you are middle or upper management in a manufacturing company, it is a must read for you and your staff

Book Review: Good insight and fun to read
Summary: 5 Stars

I was assigned this book as a text for an Operations Management course I'm taking in college. I was skeptical about the book at first, but when I cracked the cover, I couldn't stop reading. I have now finished going through it a second time and would recommend it to anybody who is interested in business.

This is not a textbook! It is written like a novel, and the author does a great job keeping the reader interested, while at the same time teaching you some very important lessons about business and personal relationships--without being preachy. Again, a "must read" for any college business graduate.
