Book Reviews of The Girlfriends' Guide to PregnancyBook Review: Whew! A FUNNY book about PREGNANCY? Yes! Summary: 5 Stars
My girlfriend gave me this book when I first found out I was pregnant (back in May). . .
Unlike other pregnancy books that are too graphically overkill on information, this gives a comic relief that is MUCH needed w/the rush of hormones at this time. Yes, it covers topics that you would never think of (if you've never been pregnant) - like sex, hemorrhoids, gas, etc. and brings a humorous light to otherwise gross topics.
I read several other pregnancy books during my pregnancy, and was totally overwhelmed by all the textbook-y information that was in those books! I would definitely recommend this book - and give as a gift to any first-time pregnant mommy!
Book Review: less scary than most pregnancy books Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book on a recommendation from a friend when I was preganant with my first child in 2005. Other pregnancy books had a diet for me to follow and lists of do's and don'ts that made me feel I was already doing everything wrong. This book was more straightforward, told you only the serious do's and don'ts and also told some funny instances that provided some comic relief. I felt less judged when I read this book so when my best friend got pregnant, I immediately ordered her this revised edition. I highly recommend.
Book Review: Best Pregnancy Book Ever! Summary: 5 Stars
This is probably the easiest to read, most enjoyable, and most informative (on all the things you don't find in the more 'medicalized' books) book about pregnancy ever. It is humorous, yet straigtforward, and gives you the information that no one else is talking about - the stuff your girlfriends will tell you! A MUST READ for every pregnant woman (and father-to-be) out there! I will be owning the whole collection of girlfriend guides before long. Thank you!
Book Review: Thank Goodness for Girlfriends! Summary: 5 Stars
Thank you, thank you for Girlfriends! I love this book. It's not only a fun read, but it reassures preggars that its o.k. to feel the way you feel and look the way you look. If you're super-sensitive about being pregnant and don't want to hear about what really happens to your body; don't read this. Stick to the "What to Expect" books. I don't know why the low ratings--either these folks take themselves too seriously or don't have any girlfriends!
Book Review: Helpful and fun Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed reading this book and could not put it down. It's very matter of fact, really reflected what I was going through, and the writing is engaging and funny. The one reservation I have is about relying on it for medical advice. For example, Iovine recommends not exercising - I sure haven't heard that from any doctor! All the medical advice says otherwise. So, buy this book, but buy another one for medical advice.
