Book Reviews of The Food Processor BibleBook Review: The Food processor Bible Summary: 4 Stars
Good book, well written! I prefer tabbed cook books, but this is still worth buying.
Book Review: Not bad, but not great Summary: 3 Stars
I'm not exactly sorry I bought this book. Some of the recipes are interesting and as someone new to food processors I've found helpful hints and information. But...first of all, I didn't realize this is a kosher cook book. So there are no recipes which use meat with dairy, no pork, no shellfish. That's OK because I have plenty of other cookbooks but it is seriously limiting. I noticed one of the recipes she calls for rice, but doesn't say if it's raw rice or cooked rice, and that's just from a quick glance through the recipes. Apparently this book is a new adaptation of an older cookbook written by the author. So she says that she adapted the recipes to be more nutritious and less fattening, but there is zero nutritional information! The parts where she explains how to use the processor are useful but I would expect a "bible" to be more complete. I learned more from the booklet which came with the processor, honestly. I don't think there's anything out there specific to food processors which is better, or I would have purchased something else. But I have to say I'm a little disappointed and think the book could be made much better with a few pictures, a little heavier on the processor "how-to" lessons and at least a calorie/fat/carb/protein count with the recipes.
Book Review: Nice recipes but cheap quality Summary: 3 Stars
THis cookbook is a very good "how to" type cookbook. I ran into a couple of negatives however. First is the cheap paper this cookbook is made with. Don't get it wet by any means. A drop of water on the page and it will show up after it dries with a warped page. Drop any quantity of fluid and it will need to be replaced. Very cheaply made and no quality of construction at all. I have done a few recipes and I found one with instructions to coarsely chop some nuts for about 8 seconds. When I did that I wound up with nut powder. So watch your machine don't go by the timer. I like the recipes and ease of using them with the machine. There are many traditional jewish recipes which I like and if you wish a good cookbook in that vein then this is the one for you. If you are a Jewish Princess who wants to get in and out of the kitchen and impress for the holidays with your cooking then this is a stellar choice. Just keep it dry!!
Book Review: Half of a great book Summary: 3 Stars
I agree with the other reviewers about the number of terrific recipes, tips and tricks included in this book.
But I was EXTREMELY disappointed that the recipes do not include the nutritional information. In this day and age where obesity is skyrocketing, it is irresponsible not to include information that helps us choose recipes that are not only tasty, but healthy for us as well.
I hope this information will be included in the next edition.
Book Review: The Food Processor Bible Summary: 3 Stars
The Food Processor Bible is alright as a cookbook but it would have benefitted by having more main meal recipes and pictures or illustrations for the visual learner. I have not really made any of the recipes in the book yet but I might be more inclined to try them if I could see what at least some of the recipes would look like when they were made. I am a new food processor owner and it would also have helped to have illustrations to show how to use the food processor.
