Book Review: A Tragic Story of Man's inhumanity to man

Misha Glenny's "The Fall of Yugoslavia" is certainly a good book on the Fall of Yugoslavia, but I could not say it is the best book I have read. I still prefer Silber and Little's "Yugoslavia: Death of a Nation." The latter book is I think more concise, thorough and better organized. Misha Glenny's book does discuss many of the primary issues of the Yugoslav Conflict - Milosevic, Karadzic, Tudjman, Izetbegovic - as well as the errors of judgment made in approaching a resolution to the conflict. Glenny gives far more attention to Macedonia, Albania an their importance to the conflict, as well as the actions and attitudes of Germany, Greece, and Turkey and their significance. Although Glenny suggests religion and historical ethnic tension and animosity was a deciding factor in the conflict, he might have gone into more vivid detail and depth as to how and why this is the case. I recommend this book, but commend you to keep reading on this very difficult and important subject.
