This is the definitive work on typography. If this is the only book you buy on the subject, it will serve you well. When an update comes along, buy it, too. You can't be a serious publisher, writer or graphic artist without thoroughly digesting the entire volume. Don't buy another font until you read this. You can't possibly go wrong with this book. It's beautifully illustrated (to a typographer, at least!), and the writing is outstanding. Who knew someone could wax so poetic over a typeface and it's proper use? Enjoying good typography in your graphics work is like having good manners. It just looks beautiful when you do it right, and you look like an uncouth slob if you neglect it. This is a must-have book for anyone that wants to know the rules of using the printed word correctly.
