Book Reviews of The Dresden Files: Welcome to the JungleBook Review: Short but Sweet Summary: 4 Stars
When I first opened this tiny book I was amazed, the illustrations in this full color book are shockingly beautiful. As much as I love Jim Butcher as an author, he does need to work on his writing in a graphic novel scenario. Anyone who has read the Dresden Files or the Codex Alera knows that Butcher is very detailed about everything, but in a fun and exciting way. He needs to, for the graphic novel series, work on using the illustrations to convey some of that detail instead of narrating the entire book. Overall, AMAZING, just like everything Butcher writes.
Book Review: First Graphic Novel For a New Age Summary: 4 Stars
I am not a fan of graphic novels. My idea of a good read is sitting with a book, one with some pictures but mostly words.
I was very reluctant to by Welcome to the Jungle, but I figured since I love the series I would give it as try. This graphic novel contains everything the series has, the only difference being that the pictures are drawn up for you instead of using your imagination. I throughoughly enjoyed it and will wait for Storm Front and Storm Front Vo. 2 to come out so I can dive into them.
Book Review: Young Harry Summary: 4 Stars
Great graphic novel. Lots of humor and a very good addition for a Dresden Files fan or a newcomer to the series. Early Harry as the private investigator. Very nice artwork and good quality on the graphic novel. Harry is shown too short and Murphy too tall. The Hecate Hags are tough but Harry takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Don't mess with Harry!
Book Review: Welcome to The Jungle Summary: 4 Stars
I was very surprised with the quality of the Graphic Novel. If you like comic books or the Dresden files it is worth it. The story was good and the art work was tremendous. The characters were how I had pictured them in my head.
Book Review: A fun sidetrip with Dresden... Summary: 4 Stars
A serious reader will not need more than an hour to finish this book. However, it was a nice fill-in waiting for the next Dresden novel. I really enjoyed seeing the drawings and seeing how Jim Butcher envisioned his hero.
