I cannot more highly recommend a book on this topic than The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming by Laurie David and Cambria Gordon.
What a truly important and well-written, well-researched and reader-friendly book! While it is aimed at young readers, it is not written "down" so that adults will be equally engaged and be able to learn basic science, details and be made aware of the urgency of the global issue.
I loudly applaud the authors for their excellent and detailed work, but I also must compliment the editors and publisher for the attractive layout, so that the "story" is not interrupted but enhanced by the clever and helpful side-bar material. The last section, offering action that can be taken, of course, is vital. The use of photos, illustrations, maps, and graphs add a great deal to the book, as do the back materials -- glossary, bibliograpy, notes, suggested readings and websites.
David and Gordon have given a gift to us all.
I make a wish upon 5 stars that this book will get into the hands of a great many people of all ages and help open our eyes, minds, and hearts
to the very real and seriousness issue of global warming.
