Book Reviews of The Doula Book: How a Trained Labor Companion Can Help You Have a Shorter, Easier, and Healthier BirthBook Review: Not a great pregnancy book Summary: 2 StarsI read this book while I was pregnant, because it was recommended. I can't say that I figured out why it was recommended. Many folks have commented that it was a great book for those studying to be a doula, but I wasn't.
If you are attempting a natural child birth in a hospital, hire a doula. She lowers your risks for numerous interventions. However, that can be said in one sentence and backed up with a few paragraphs.
Book Review: bought it new, perfect condition. Shipped quickly. Summary: 5 StarsCurrently going through birth doula certification through DONA, this is one of the required reads.
Book Review: A must read for Doulas Summary: 4 StarsI am a Doula and I found this book to be very informative and very essential for my profession. I love the fact that the whole book is based on researches data and have some useful suggestions for doulas. However, I did find the book hard to read because most of the information is dry, "not very exciting". If you are a doula or if you want to know why having a doula is so beneficial I would recommend you to read this book and I'm positive it will answer most of your questions about the benefits of a doula.
Book Review: Great! Summary: 5 StarsThis is a great book, whether you're studying to be a doula or your thinking about using a doula for your birth!
Book Review: too many studies Summary: 3 StarsThe book over all was very informative however there were way too many " studies" listed in the book if I just wanted strait graph's and comparisons of doula vs. non doula assisted births I would have looked for them online somewhere. and the pictures really need updated. The book seemed more like a giant 240 page sales pamphlet on why you should hire a doula.
