This is a great book for any one who currently owns a doberman or is wanting to get a doberman. I highly recommend you read this book. It covers everything from training to proper diet to health care for the animal. It also gives you a nice history of the doberman, and the photos in the book are gorgeous. Yes I am a doberman lover and breeder, and after many years of searching for a good reference book I have found it, this is the one. It doesn't cover 100% everything, but it gives you a lot of pertinent and necessry information.Book Review: The Doberman Pinscher

As a dog trainer, behaviorist and Dobe owner (2 Dobes) I always recommend this book to pet parents interested in the breed or people who are already in love with the breed. It is to the point, offers appropriate, beware of what you wish for, warnings about owning this breed. The book also offers information from nutrition to exercise specific to the Doberman and is written by long time Dobe owners and breeders. I owned a doberman for 6 years and didn't know half of what the book had covered. So I learned quite a bite more information to learn how to care for the doberman. I learned more about how to maintain better health. It covered the history of the doberman better than any book that I have read so far. It had great pictures and text.
I am more educated in bring up the next doberman from reading this book.

This book covers a lot of basics and understanding behaviors of dogs. But if you are planning on getting a doberman pinscher for a pet, you might want to skip some chapters in this book. This book deals with a lot of dog showing. If you want to show your dog, get this book. This book went beyond my expectations as far as complete information on Doberman Pinschers. Whether you are looking into the breed for the first time and maybe just want a campanion, or you have a desire to breed, or even show, this book written wonderfuly by the two authors, covers all one book can. This book covers topics on Dobermans in a way that I felt I had really learned something.
