Book Reviews of The Doberman PinscherBook Review: Excellent Book Summary: 5 Stars
I think this book is excellent. I say this mainly because of the fact that it addresses much more information about the psychology of the breed itself than the typical text out there. It speaks a great deal about conformation work rather than some I've read. It discusses many different opinions/options concerning people that like showing dogs and people that don't. I was very glad to see it talked about conformation work, and where to explore those avenues if you are more inclined with that. It gives information about the U.D.C. as well. I think the book gives much more than the usual BS that is discussed about dogs in general. Thank god that some authors feel a need to discuss the breed characteristics more, unlike the large portion that like making a quick buck. I personally think showing any dog that performs some form of working task cripples the breed, but that's just my opinion. This book at least talks about other topics if that's not what your into. So for that I greatly appreciate it.
Book Review: The Best Book on Dobermans Period! Summary: 5 Stars
Without going into too much detail, this book is the best Doberman book I've ever read. The history section is far more detailed than any other book out there, and the thing I love about this book is that it is ENTIRELY dedicated to Dobermans. Some books have the first half dedicated to a certain breed, and then the rest is just the same info on health, grooming, etc. regardless of the breed. This book is different, and it's strictly made for Doberman enthusiasts. When it talks about health, grooming, etc. it's tailored to only Dobermans, and that's what makes this book unique. Every word in this book pertains to Dobermans, and that's why it's worthy of 5 stars. If you are a Doberman owner, or just want to learn more about this magnificent breed, then this book is a must have!
Book Review: MATURE AND COMPREHENSIVE Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first book on the Doberman, and what a wise choice it was. While explaining the route that breeders in the US follow, the book gives the German point of view as well. Ear cropping futures strongly. I especially appreciate the absence of arrogance in terms of the Doberman as compared to other large breed dogs. Understanding my own Doberman is now a lot easier than before I purchased this book. The authors's years of experience in breeding Dobermans as well as their love for the Doberman is obvious. The book is very comprehensive. I am also very impressed with the importance given to moral and ethical issues as it relates to the Doberman. Photographs are mainly black and white with a few full coloured ones in between.
Book Review: I Purchased this book before it was published. Summary: 5 Stars
I suggest any person contemplating buying a Doberman should definately read this book. It is very informative and useful in understanding the Doberman Pincher. The writers have come together beautifully to give the very best feel for a extraordinary animal. They explain all concepts of owning and caring for a Doberman. Breeding and owning Dobermans themselves have made them experts in all aspects of ownership. Take special attention to chapter 8, Keeping Your Doberman Healthy as there is information there that is absolutely necessary to raise a happy healthy Doberman.
Book Review: A Must Have! Summary: 5 Stars
What a wonderfully informative book. A must for any dobie enthusiast or for someone considering the breed. Great information on the history of the doberman as well as general care for all ages of dogs. Great sections on breeding, training, temperments, showing, sporting, and a fantastic section on health and general care. What is great about the authors is that the book is not just one sided, such as "only show type dogs and cropped ears", it represents both working type and show type dogs as well as American and German standards.
