Book Reviews of The Dive From Clausen's Pier: A NovelBook Review: Enthralling Summary: 5 Stars
An enthralling read, from the first until the last page. It grips on to you and I found that I could not put this book down and was disappointed to finish it because I became so consumed in the way the world inside the book was portrayed. The ending may disappoint some people but I actually thought it was the perfect ending because it left the door open... there was no definitive ending. The lead character took turns within the book that I did not agree with but I enjoyed seeing the world from her perspective. A fantastic read.
Book Review: Very highly recommended Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this book. I was afraid that the story would run dry pretty quickly but I was very pleasantly surprised. Ann Packer's characters are not all good or bad and the decisions they have to make put them in situations where they have to choose what is best for them, despite the implications and repercussions this has on those around them. I found the main character to be very interesting and very real in the way she reacts. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
Book Review: I loved this book Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book in a matter of 3 days and didn't want it to end. The main character Carrie is interesting to follow. She is still discovering herself; in a suffocating relationship and dull life in Madison driving her to escape. The emotional roller-coaster is great I couldn't wait to see what she would do next. She was almost real, annoying, selfish, kind, caring; no one is perfect and neither is she. I higly recommend this book. It was a great break from reality.
Book Review: a surgical yet poetic look at one person's life Summary: 5 Stars
and the choices and emotional crossroads this person faces.
This book was sad but rung true: Ann Packer respects the complexity of Carrie's thoughts, situation and choices. Emotionally very subtle and sharp. A sad and strong book, but very heavy to read. Not something to chear you up. Also made me feel a bit claustrophobic.
Book Review: Gripping Summary: 5 Stars
I started & finished this book in the same day. Although the plot was emotionally draining at times, I just couldn't put the book down. The author's writing style is so realistic. She really captures the essence of her characters & paints a vivid portrait in the reader's mind. I highly recommend this book!
