Book Reviews of The Dive From Clausen's Pier: A NovelBook Review: What everyone has considered at least once Summary: 5 Stars
What would you do if the person you love suddenly isn't like the one you have always known? Would you love them anyway? Would you leave? Would you risk leaving your safety net? Could you deal? These are the questions Carrie finds herself meeting when her high school sweetheart is paralyzed after...well, a dive from Clausen's pier. I liked this book because the situation seemed real to me, and I think the main questions this book addressed were ones we have all thought about (not to be morbid) at some point in time. Whether you agree with her or not, the choices Carrie makes are what make her human. The writing held my attention and the flow to the plot was very smooth. I highly recommend this book.
Book Review: Engrossing, original. Summary: 5 Stars
Carrie Bell was faced with a choice - she can stay with the quadrapalegic fiancee that she had been thinking about breaking up with before his accident, or she can leave. She chooses to leave and for that she has to face the consequences of emotional guilt from her friends and from herself. I liked this book because it made me think about Carrie's situation and what I would have done. I'm a 20-something female myself, and to wonder if the situation Carrie was in is something that I could have handled well at 23, I think not. It's a very engrossing book which I ripped through in 2 days. *I obviously don't work!* I was very satisfied when it was over with and would recommend it to all my friends...
Book Review: Loved this book! Summary: 5 Stars
I thought this was a great book from beginning to end. Carrie Bell (the main girl) is torn between what she feels she could do and what she should do. I enjoyed all of the characters in this book and had a hard time putting the book down. I felt the book was real and it was as if I knew the characters personally. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. This was an easy read. I would encourage you to give it a try and I think you will be pleased. I have never left a review before but thought I would leave a little note hoping someone else will read this book and find the enjoyment from it that I did.
Book Review: Deep engrossing book that stays with you long afterwards Summary: 5 Stars
I feel very lucky to have happened upon this book. I was rummaging through an airport book store unable to find any of the reliable titles on my read list. Instead I took a chance on this first time author and it turned out to be the best book I've read in awhile. I don't like tear-jerkers, but I loved the real and complex emotion in this book, following the character along, understanding her every move despite willing her in a different direction at times. I felt connected to this book in a way I have not in quite some time. Although the ending will leave you with a few nagging questions, this is not a book that dissapoints at any stage.
Book Review: Can't stop thinking about this one Summary: 5 Stars
There are not many books that I bother to write reviews on but this one is worth my time (there were only two others in all). Carrie is a wonderful character. She will make you want to scream and be really mad and yet feel sorry and understanding of her situation all at the same time. This book will make you very emotional (remember the movie Titanic). A great summer read that makes you think about life, love, relationships and the people you are committed to. Anyone who has ever experienced a person close to them suffering a long hospital stay will be able to relate to the issues that Mike is dealing with.
