Book Review: One of a kind treasure

The soda fountain died long ago. Its collected wisdom lives on. This book is a trade publication for soda jerks in the early 20th century. It's worth the cover price just as a historical document. But it's so much more. There are recipes, literally thousands of them. They range from hundreds of ice cream concoctions including 29 variations on banana splits to sandwiches and soups, cakes and tonics.
Then there are the beverages, which is what I bought it for. Torani and your local espresso joint have nothing on this. There are sodas, secret mixes, milk drinks, egg drinks, syrups, flips, fizzes, coffee drinks, beef teas and things I'd never heard of. It gives an idea of just how much variety and diversity has been lost in the age of bottled cola, Starbucks and eggnog in a carton. Fortunately, with a little preparation you can recreate it in your kitchen.
