Book Reviews of The Devil's Punchbowl: A NovelBook Review: This book is not for everyone. Summary: 5 Stars
This book is not for everyone and at times, I was a bit apprehensive to continue because of the description of human and animal cruelty in this novel. BUT, it is a good read and Mr. Iles's writing is top notch. It takes a lot for me to cringe while reading a novel, and this novel did just that. Yes, the topic of human trafficking and dog fighting is not for everyone but Mr. Iles put this book together and made it work. Bravo to Mr. Iles and can't wait till the next Penn Cage novel to come out. I own and have real all of Greg Iles novels and I am sure he will not disappoint.
Book Review: Mr. Iles is a master Summary: 5 Stars
I like Greg Iles and enjoy his books. Since I read a book a day when I get my hands on a book like his I tend to slow down and savor and enjoy a good treat. He is a masterful author who has again proven that he has multiple good books in him and more yet to come. This novel is well plotted, devious, characters are well developed, they come to life in your imagination and stay in your mind after the novel is finished. I am not going to give you a synoposis of the story, I am sure at least 50 people have done so already, but this is a book worth reading. I suggest take a weekend and enjoy.
Book Review: suspenseful, deep and made my skin crawl! Summary: 5 Stars
This book was fantastic. I have to admit that parts of it made me sick, but it was a very, very good book. I have read all of Greg Iles's books and have loved every one of them. None of them made me as mad as this one did. You totally get lost in the story and feel for the people, that is what makes a good author. I read other people's reviews, some said the book offened them, I think this was an eye opener as we all know this type of thing goes on way more than anyone would like, if only we could have a Penn Cage every where to take out the bad guys!
Book Review: One of the Best Summary: 5 Stars
I have just finished "The Devils Punchbowl" and it may be the author's best. I've read all but two of his books and each one is excellent. This book, as the others, is for serious mystery readers as it is edgy to say the least. This book may not be for James Patterson fans as it has guts. I have totally enjoyed all of the novels and this one does not disappoint. Mr Iles is now my favorite writer. The prose just flows so well he could be writing about anything and I'd probably enjoy it. Can't wait for the next one.
Book Review: the devil's punchbowl Summary: 5 Stars
OMG! The best one yet, Greg, and I have read them all! Being a southerner from MS, too, I love reading about times and places here that still hold an enchantment from the past. PLEASE don't make us wait so long for the next one and I hope you keep Penn Cage in your future novels. I tried to read this one very slowly but I couldn't keep myself from racing to the next chapter! Very action-filled! LOVED IT!
