Book Review: John saul is the best Summary: 5 Stars

Book Review: Labyrinthine plot Summary: 4 Stars
While I enjoyed the book overall, the plot tended toward the labyrinthine, with several seemingly unrelated threads being wound about closer and closer until they were all revealed to fit together in the end. It did tend to leave me rather confused at times, but it all made sense in the end. Except the end - that left me confused again. But ... maybe Saul wanted to leave it open for a potential sequel.
The plot is explained quite well in the description above, so I'll not waste your time reiterating it. I also don't want to spoil the plot for you, so I'll do my best to be vague. The labyrinth referred to in the title is literal and shows up late in the book - I'm not sure if it is literally the "Devil's" labyrinth - it all depends on whether you believe in a literal Devil and demons, or simply in the evil that exists in the inner being of all people. Father Sebastian Sloane is apparently able to bring out the inner evil from even the most innocent of the students at St. Isaacs and exorcise it from them. It is this belief that brings the Pope, making a last-minute change to his tour of the U.S., to Boston to see Father Sloane and the children he has miraculously "saved" - Sofia, Melody and Ryan.
I believe those who are fans of John Saul's work will find this book to be well worth their while - those who are interested in horror books working in aspects of Catholicism, the demonic and the Inquisition will likewise find this book intriguing. I went through it faster than I meant to as I had difficulty putting it down in order to get my rest. So, a recommend from me!
Book Review: A Suspenseful Novel with A Bit of a Plot Twist Summary: 4 Stars
The story is suspenseful almost from the onset. Mr. Saul keeps it on track & on a good pace with no wasted dialogue. A 16 year old boy who transfers from a public high school to a Catholic high school begins the suspense novel. It moves along well. It keeps your interest very well. The boy, Ryan, & his new love interest, Melodie are believable. Readers can identify with Ryan's uneasiness in losing his father, Mom dating, Mom's boyfriend moving in, the trauma of being the new kid in school, the rigid life of a Catholic high school.
The story take on an entirely new twist when a couple of fanatic Muslims become involved, The story line goes a bit over the top here & the way they intend to assassinate the Pope. The Muslim fanatic believable in today's world. The plot in this section of the book seems to falter. But the novel is still very entertaining. It's an enjoyable, suspenseful read.
Book Review: Not as bad as these reviews Summary: 4 Stars
Having read a few John Saul books I've gotten used to the way he writes. While reading you ask yourself questions like 'what happened to this guy?' 'how did that happen?' 'where is the ending?' That last one I ask myself constantly in Saul books. The ending is always abrupt, it comes from nowhere things are rolling along you turn the page and boom it's over. I was totally into this story the whole way through but the end just came out of nowhere. This book was about as good as "creature" which I loved. Altho I still have too many questions, my advice...don't over think with Saul. This books moves well, keeps you entertained and does have a very strange plot if you like that kind of thing. Overall I give it 4 stars but be weary of the ending (it sneaks up on you)
