Book Reviews of The Definitive Book of Body LanguageBook Review: Excellent, funny and easy to read and learn Summary: 5 Stars
I enjoyed the way it explains the need to consider the situational context, the verbal communications as well as the CLUSTERS of gestures in order to better grasp the body language.
It provides just the right amount of scientific, anthropological, evolutionary basis of the (almost) reflex gestures we all have - without getting too deep or boring the reader with more than necessary.
The pictures and illustrations are excellent. Last but not least - a great sense of humor all over and quite funny to read.
Book Review: Saving lives Summary: 5 Stars
I train UK crisis negotiators, and was looking for a simple, jargon-free guide to NVCs in words of not more than three syllables. This hit all the buttons. Easy to understand, and full of diagrams and pictures as examples.
Read in conjunction with 'People watching', by Desmond Morris, I was able to construct a training package on NVC's to enable our negotiators to approach people in crisis with confidence, knowing that their bodies will reinforce the message their mouths are verbalising.
Book Review: Get ready for an eye opening experience. Summary: 5 Stars
In very few words, after reading this book, you will feel you had your eyes closed your entire life. You will be able to understand how people feel even when they are not saying anything.
My favorite: When a man is excited by a woman, which part of his body can grow to almost 3 times its size?..... No it's not that. The correct answer is pupils. "Pupil size is affected by one's general state of arousal"
To find many more interesting facts read this awesome book.
Book Review: This Body Language Really Does Work! Summary: 5 Stars
I was very impressed with both the ease of the read and the way information was presented in this book. You will learn, just by reading, how to decode and apply what you learn about body language.
I actually was able to use this knowledge (and have it work) immediately after reading the book.
I HIGHLY recommend this book if you're at all interested in what makes people tick, how to find out what people really mean versus what they say they mean, etc.
