Book Reviews of The Definitive Book of Body LanguageBook Review: Easy, fun read Summary: 5 Stars
I was a novice when it comes to body language, and this book was a great intro. It shows common body language at work, in courting rituals, etc. It also goes into common body language shown with the face, arms/hands, legs/feet, etc. The book is well written, easy to read, and the authors have a sense of humor that will make you laugh. Last but not least, this book is new - it discussed gestures used by contemporary figures like Tony Blair, G.W.Bush, etc.
The only downsides are two: (1) the book is somewhat basic, and now I feel I will need to follow up with something else, and (2) sometimes the British sense of humor of the author is mixed in with the explanations of a given piece of body language, and it is hard sometimes to know what is irony and what is supposed to be taken at face value.
Overall, great primer - start here if this is your first book on the subject.
Book Review: Win others over FAST! Summary: 5 Stars
I fell in love with this book from page one. It seems as of late, the big "push" regarding body language has been centered on lying. More specifically, how to tell if someone is lying to you.
However, what if you could immediately identify four or five things that you could easily do with your body, that would ( at the unconscious level)cause other people to not only like you more, but actually develop strong feelings of trust? Chances are, that if we are not consciously striving to send "good" signals to others, we are invariably sending "negative" signals.
Do you own a business? Are you self employed? Do you deal with people? If you can answer yes, then you will profit in unlimited ways by purchasing, studying, and implementing the strategies and techniques in this book.
Book Review: Open your eyes to the hidden language Summary: 5 Stars
People in general can not hold back their body language when they feel strongly about an issue. As a Marketing major in college, I am finding observing the body language signals discussed in this book really does apply to the thoughts and feelings a person is feeling. You will be amazed by how you will look at people differently, more perceptively. A lot of times you will find that people are really feeling differently than you thought after a conversation just based on body language alone. Remeber any given message is 55% physical expresstions, 38% vocal (pitch), and 7% words alone. This book will indeed give you an advantage in every social interaction, who is feeling happy, frustrated, or bored. A great dive in to the subtle jungle of body language!
Book Review: When body speaks, eyes listen! Summary: 5 Stars
Knowing nothing or a lot about body language is both good reason to read this book. Giving insight and practical informations, this book helps us to survive all our communication situations with other people - to know when they are sincere, when they are angry and when they are lying. Also, to send the same messages across when our body talks. Can person lie with her/his body? Hardly, because body shows what exact emotion is happening that moment inside the brains. And when I see somebody trying to control her/his body, face expresions or hand gestures, then I am ready to leave. Why? Beacuse life is too short to be spent on people who are trying to hide their emotions. Business situations? With "stone-faces"? Same.
Book Review: Read a person before the say it Summary: 5 Stars
Have you ever wondered what a person is saying without saying it? Does what they are saying match up to their body language? Red this book and you will find out. This is an impressive book when it comes to deciphering the non verbal information that people "leak".
After reading just about every book on body language this is one of the better ones. Most crossover and compliment each other and yes some miss some parts where others pick up the lost information.
One of the best ways to learn reading non verbal information is to go to a bar towards the end of the night. Peoples actions are exaggerated and the control to be safe is lost. The more you watch the better you will get.
