Book Reviews of The Dark TideBook Review: A thriller that starts out a bit slow, but speeds up fast. Summary: 4 Stars
Imagine being married to a man for eighteen years just to find out that you really didn't know him at all. Hard to believe? Maybe so, but Andrew Gross had me believing it could really happen in his book, THE DARK TIDE.
Charles Friedman, a hedge-fund manager, supposedly dies in a bomb explosion at New York's Grand Central Station. On the same day, there is a hit and run in Greenwich. Charles Friedman's phone number was found in the victim's pocket. This is how Friedman's widow, Karen, and the detective investigating the murder, Ty Hauck, meet.
Months later, when Karen is watching a documentary about the bombing, she spots her husband and he was alive after the blast. Ty goes a bit rogue as he helps Karen to uncover this carefully guarded conspiracy.
After the author's last novel, I was really looking forward to this book. THE DARK TIME is the first his new series. I am looking forward to reading the second one, DON'T LOOK TWICE. A relationship between Karen and Ty formed. I'm curious to see how it plays out.
Book Review: A different twist Summary: 4 Stars
I never give anything 5 stars because we aren't in a perfect world, but this one comes close. The story line was different all through it. Sure, there are stories where husbands disappear, stories about absconded money, off shore accounts, etc., but this one follows every trail in detail. It was a very good, fast, easy read and hard to put down. I've never read anything else by this author but will check him out further.
Book Review: Couldn't put it down. Summary: 4 Stars
A solid mystery by Andrew Gross. This book has it all, plot, yes, and then some, love, action, suspense, daring; It lacks for nothing. The characters as well as the story develop smoothly. There are enough twists and surprises to keep you turning pages. And at the conclusion everything falls into place, providing an excellent and satisfying ending.
Book Review: Great "grab you" book Summary: 4 Stars
You can count on Andrew Gross to tell a great story. I'd definitely rate it a "page-turner". Excellent choice for those times when you want to bury yourself in a book, blocking out the rest of the world, as you enter the author's.
Book Review: Fun, fast read! Summary: 4 Stars
This is a very fun thriller. It's different from the typical murder mysteries because it's a wife trying to figure out who her husband really was. It's very engaging with enough twists to keep you from wanting to put it down.
