Book Review: A "MUST-HAVE" for fans of this film and those who want in on the business
Summary: 5 Stars
The Dark Knight is one of the greatest films of the new millennium...a fact supported by its grossing over $1 billion worldwide (about $1.5 billion after DVD sales), its practically unanimous praising by critics and moviegoers alike (those few naysayers can go screw themselves), and (when stacked against the previous Batman films, sans Batman Begins) the best superhero comic-adapted film of all time.
Inside this 240 page book are all the elements that went into the making of this amazing film, including:
Storyboard art
Character sketches
Still photos
and perhaps most valuable of all...Nolan's original shooting script!!! (some slight changes between this and the final film, but ultimately it all worked out for the better).
My only regret for this book is how little of it is dedicated to Harvey Dent/Two-Face. It's mostly pics of clay sculptings and a short quotation from Aaron Eckhart explaining the special effects. However, this is not enough for me to downgrade my review from five stars.
This is the perfect companion to The Art of Batman Begins.
I can't wait for Nolan's next installment in the franchise "The Dark Knight Rises", due in theaters July 20, 2012 (no question the companion book for that film will be equally spectacular).
