Book Reviews of The Daily Five

Book Review: The Daily Five helps move even the youngest learner to greater independence!
Summary: 5 Stars

Read and implement this! This would definately help you start you classroom off on the right pace to more independent learners without getting into the paper trap of worksheets, worksheets , worksheets! Gail's ideas to increase independence from gradual release of responsibility would help all students learn more and also permit you to teach in the smaller groups for greater differentiation.

Book Review: Book as expected
Summary: 5 Stars

We had looked for these books elsewhere for nearly double the price. I received both books in new condition!!!! My collegue and I are now able to prepare to teach next year with a new perspective on reading instruction. After trying it at the end of the year and getting Kindergarteners to do quiet reading for 15 minutes I am very excited to implement the rest of the ideas in this book!

Book Review: A Must Read for Elementary Teachers
Summary: 5 Stars

Where has this book been all of my teaching career? This book is such an easy read and true to its words. I didn't really think that my students would respond to the ideas in this book. Not only did they respond, they soaked it up. Never before have I had all of my students quietly engaged in meaningful reading activities. I am sharing this with my faculty. Thank you sisters!!

Book Review: Breath of fresh air
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been looking for a way to keep students actively engaged in educational projects while I worked with small groups of children during our guided reading block. With the Daily 5, I now have a way that all students can be learning even though the teacher is not directly in front of them. Excellent examples were given and it is a very easy read. Great job to the 2 sisters!!

Book Review: The Daily 5
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a quick read with great charts and information in getting started using this approach. The daily five really streamlines the student activities/routines that are practiced during independent work as the teacher works with small groups. I plan to use this approach in my classroom next year. The best part is that it will work with any school system's standards.
