Book Reviews of The Daily FiveBook Review: Must Have Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a must have for a new teacher and this book is a must have for a veteran teacher. This book will walk you through your daily 90-120 minutes literacy block. After reading it, I requested that my fellow teachers purchase it and we do a school wide book club. ALL of us love it and find it extremely useful. This book was a great recommendation from RealWriters blog...a blog for K-12 teachers as well as professional published authors and writers.
Book Review: The Daily Five Summary: 5 Stars
This is an incredible resource for a school. The book is well-written, accessible and functional. I work at an elementary school where we are beginning a book study so that we can implement these concepts. The sisters are witty but clear and concise. One can truly begin to implement these ideas by reading this short but sweet book. I recommend it highly for anyone wanting to improve and simplify what they do to teach reading, writing and even math.
Book Review: Love this book Summary: 5 Stars
This is an awesome method to use in your classroom. It has helped me cut waaayyyyy back on prep time, organizational time and struggling with classroom management during literacy time. My students have THRIVED on the choices, and have become way more responsible and careful with their actions. I simply love it. I am only implementing 4 of the Daily Five (not doing Listen to Reading at this time, however, I have stepped up on my reading to them.)
Book Review: Great Book -- Lousy Condition Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book NEW for my wife, a second grade teacher. She loves it, and started using it right away. In fact, she was so excited about it that she wouldn't let me return it for an undamaged copy. Although it was clearly new, somewhere along the line a 1/4" bite had been chomped out of the book's spine. Nothing that some heavy duty book binding tape couldn't repair, but I expect better when paying for a new book.
Book Review: Buy this book! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a first year teacher (kindergarten and first grade) and I love this book. It fits my teaching philosophy that most of reading time should be spent reading, not doing busy seatwork. This book is particularly useful because it tells you exactly how to get your kids reading more, but it is also flexible and adaptable to your particular needs. I would definitely recommend this book to any teacher, new or veteran.
