Book Reviews of The Daily Five

Book Review: Best book for independent practice!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a must-have for teachers who do guided reading and are tired of the noisy, messy centers! I started implementing this program in Nov. and now my students are completely independent on it! I have more time to meet with my guided reading groups (I have 6 groups and I see them all EVERY DAY!) and my students aren't bothering me during group time. Plus, I know my students are actually being productive and I can already see a difference in my students' reading abilities. BUY THIS BOOK! You will not regret it!

Book Review: The best thing to happen for teachers
Summary: 5 Stars

I cannot speak highly enough about The Daily Five. I read the book before the start of the 08-09 school year because I knew I would be needing to make some changes in order to meet the needs of all my students without any parent help in the classroom. The sisters write with such voice that you will feel as though they are in the room with you. I had so much success with the structure of Daily 5 that I recently spent a summer afternoon with 22 out of 24 of my peers to help them get started with the Daily 5 this year.

Book Review: what a difference
Summary: 5 Stars

My district has used a reading and writing workshop approach for at least ten years. This book has truly helped me to step back and take the time needed at the beginning of the year to establish strong routines. I don't believe the information is new, it is just laid out in a consise, reader friendly manner. My students are much more on-task and quiet during literacy work times. The "first 25 days" quidelines have been invaluable for lesson planning and getting my school year off to a successful start!

Book Review: Superb resource for Balanced Literacy!
Summary: 5 Stars

"The Daily Five" is an excellent, teacher-friendly resource that can help any early childhood teacher create balanced literacy within their classroom environment. Their lessons, structure, and establishment of the five essential components to literacy instruction are easy to follow and classroom -tested. I encourage you, as a veteran teacher myself, to purchase "The Daily Five" to find new opportunities and resources for success in a balanced literacy program. It is a great, easy read for any teacher!

Book Review: it works! wonderful reading strategies and classroom management in one
Summary: 5 Stars

I completed my student teaching earlier in May. The teacher I was placed with introduced The Daily Five and "The Sisters" to me. She felt very strongly about The Daily Five. I can say that being with her and her 2nd grade students, The Daily Five provides different approaches to literacy as well as classroom management. This approach helps guide the students to become stronger in dealing with literacy as well as becoming stronger, more independent learners. Also, the kids loved it! Highly recommend!
