Book Review: A kick in the pants.
Summary: 5 Stars
The Concrete Blonde has Connelly at the top of his game. What's especially nice is how he has structured the story around a question of justice, which he ties into the title itself. There are three concrete blondes in this story. Victims become avengers and vice versa. Connelly's hero can't remember the name of the statue of the blindfolded lady holding the sword and scales, noted twice, which is Connelly's way of giving you the homework assignment to look it up yourself. If you do that you automatically learn more than you knew about conceptions of justice.
Very cool book, thanks Mr. Connelly.

I just recently started reading Michael Connelly and I am so glad I did. If you like Jonathan Kellerman and/or John Sanford, you'll like Connelly. I'm reading his books in order which I think was the right way to go since they seem to build off of one another. Harry Bosch, an LAPD Detective and the primary character in the book, really grows on you after several books. Concrete Blonde is skillfully written and Connelly sets up several suspects as viable candids for being the killer. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out "whodunit", but Connelly got me on this one.Book Review: A Satisfying Mystery Novel

Connelly comes through with the total package in The Concrete Blonde, as Harry Bosch stars as detective, courtroom defendant and conflicted lover. Connelly delivers what I look for in a mystery/drama novel: all of the mystery and suspense without the graphic violence, gore and sophomoric writing that are present in many murder mysteries. Connelly adds good character development to the story, so that not only will readers stay intrigued by the mystery, they will remain interested in the characters.
Good ending, too.

I found Michael Connelly just recently on recommendation of another author, and I am glad I did. Mr. Connelly is a talented, entertaining, and masterful writer. His concise dialogue and attention to details and emotions make all of his novels outstanding reads. This one is no exception. If you are an avid reader, mystery fan, or are just looking for something to read, you cannot do wrong with a Michael Connelly novel....especially the Harry Bosch series. Loved the first one. Thought the second book was better than the first. Now CONCRETE BLOND, best of the three!! These Harry Bosch books are old but certainly not outdated. Great stories with outstanding characters. Bosch is some detective. This book deals with events four years back and now. A serial killer named the Dollmaker shot dead by Harry is back killing again and Harry is being sued for the Dollmaker's death. Great court room drama and police work. Very HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. On to book #4.
