Book Reviews of The Concrete Blonde (Harry Bosch)

Book Review: Connelly's CONCRETE BLONDE is a solid literary hit
Summary: 5 Stars

Reading a book that bears that name of Michael Connelly means that it is going to be a guaranteed hit, and THE CONCRETE BLONDE is not different. The book takes you back into the mind and life of Deterctive Harry Bosch who has to confront not just his own shortcomings and flaws but try his best and do his job in a way that will make the people of Los Angeles feel safe.

This novel takes you down dark alleys and the deep recesses of the characters' minds, allowing you to feel the emotions that are running as wild as a rollercoaster from page to page.

I just love it! As someone who wants to be entertained and made to think along the way, I got this and more from CONCRETE BLONDE, and it is guaranteed to leave any Connelly fan the same way.

Book Review: Michael Connelly is a master
Summary: 5 Stars

The Concrete Blonde is a masterfully told story featuring LAPD detective Harry Bosch. Author Michael Connelly is as comfortable writing about the courtroom as he is a murder case. And, he combines both of them in this novel. Connelly's characters are believable and the details are rich. In Concrete Blonde, Bosch is trying to solve what may be "copy cat" murders while he's on trial for shooting "The Dollmaker," a serial killer. But did Bosch kill the right person? Is the Dollmaker still out there somewhere? New murders and taunting letters seem to suggest Bosch shot the wrong man. The evidence points to a couple different suspects, but Connelly keeps you guessing the entire time. The Harry Bosch series is great.

Book Review: Ghosts from the past
Summary: 5 Stars

In the first novel of the series ("The Black Echo"), reference was made to the shooting that got Harry Bosch disciplined within the department. Now it is four years later. The police department is being sued for alleged violations of the suspect's civil rights. As the trial progresses, you learn a little more about Harry's past, and a lot more about the four-year-old case.

This is a novel about serial killers. It is not overly graphic, but you do learn a lot along the way about the porn trade in Los Angeles, the seamier side of life, and the black heart hidden inside some people who appear externally normal. It is a well written novel with some surprises.

Book Review: And the hits just keep on comin'
Summary: 5 Stars

If you've never read a book from the Harry Bosch series - do so in order, starting with The Black Echo and then the Black Ice. Connelly's development of story lines and characters builds with each book. The Concrete Blonde is the third in the series and, so far, the best of the bunch - but for its full impact, read the other two first. You will be very happy you dove into the Bosch series. This is great crime and detective writing and story telling. Bosch is quite the complex individual, but others around him are also built by Connelly with depth. As for the stories - as you would want, they are filled with twists and turns all the way to the very end.

Book Review: This guy sure can write a mystery!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first Michael Connelly book and I loved it! A real page turner. I was stumped until the very end. This is mystery writing at its finest. The author clearly knows his subject matter and loves what he does, it comes across in his writing style. With unexpected twists and turns, lots of intrigue, add a dash of romance (not too much that it detracts from the storyline) and you have the makings for a best seller. I can't wait to start reading this series from book 1 right on through. I am adding Connelly to my favorite authors list and Harry Bosch as one of my favorite characters. Hats off to an author who lives up to his genre and delivers!
