Book Review: Good book, lousy critics

This book deserves better treatment than it is getting from its critics in this forum, some of whom have ideological axes to grind, and one of whom posted twice (I have reported this as abuse). The guy who posted twice chided Kunstler for inconsistency while misspelling the word "it's" (the possessive form has no apostrophe) in the same sentence! I'm responsible for my own share of typos, but really, if you're going attack an author for proofreading errors, at least proofread your own criticism. This is a book of non-academic essays designed for an average person with an interest in travel and urban issues. It succeeds handsomely. While not as influential as The Geography of Nowhere, it is in many ways more of a fun read. It's my favorite among Kunstler's four nonfiction books and I recommend it warmly.
