Book Reviews of The Celestine Prophecy

Book Review: Energy Insights
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent adventure story about a quest for the 9 insights of spiritual energy wisdom. It is well written and touches a lot of concepts about sensing, feeling, seeing energies. These concepts are the insights, written on scrolls and hidden in the jungles of Peru, around Macchu Piccu. The insights are hidden from the Church, who want to destroy them because people won't understand them or some such sick excuse balarky. In a quest to find the insights (one by one, in their proper order), the heros are running through the jungle, evading soldiers who would jail them or maybe even kill them.

During the quest, the main hero is meeting people and learning the next insight. The insights are basically about subtle energies, those which many people are totally unaware of. One example is the aura (the energy field which surrounds a person/place/object). Some people can see an aura with their physical eyes. Some people can also see colors in the aura and even separations or tears. The colors may mean different things, depending on the color itself (red/yellow/blue, etc) or the intensity of the color (bright yellow vs. pale yellow). The tears mean that the aura is not intact, so the person cannot hold light within them. The idea is to repair the tears so the person can be in-balance and without sickness and disease.

There are other concepts within the story, such as how people consciously or unconsciously "steal" energy from others. In this context, steal could be someone draining you of your energy (you feel exhausted when they leave you). I could go on and on, but anyway, the book is excellent.

Whether you understand the energy concepts I am speaking of or not, I believe it is, at the very least, a really good avventure story. If you are into spiritual energy, then you will get much more from the book, because it explains a lot of energy concepts.

On a side note--I also enjoyed the recently-released video, but the book was much more informative and much more enjoyable. The book includes additional energy concept (such as raising your vibration high enough to be invisible to those who are "unaware" of such spiritual concepts and inclusion of group energies to hold certain things in place. The book is also more of an adventure story. It gives you the time to stretch out the "run from the bad guys--here they come again--quick hide" stuff. I would suggest you read the book first, then get the video if you want to "see" with your eyes. As a Reiki person, the book and video ring true to me on the energy concepts. The story line itself is fiction, as far as I know anyway. But then, who knows what's in the jungles of Peru :-)

Book Review: Only The Most Important New Age Masterpiece Ever Written
Summary: 5 Stars

From Boston, Massachusetts, on January 22, 2000.

I recall reading in TIME MAGAZINE that THE CELESTINE PROPHECY was first sold by the author, James Redfield, out of the truck of his car until the genius of its insights was spread by word of mouth to such an extent that the rights were acquired by a major publishing house. A friend to whom I recently recommended THE CELESTINE PROPHECY apprised me of its poor reviews in this space, and I felt compelled to correct the record. In my mind and the minds of many others, THE CELESTINE PROPHECY is one of the greatest books ever written.

As an adventure story THE CELESTINE PROPHECY cannot compete with well written thrillers by Creighton, King or many others. But, for the benefit of those who just do not get it (and some do not), it is the insights imparted by Redfield in the course of his story that make this Book a true masterpiece. These thoroughly modern insights, which represent nothing less than the blissful marriage of scientific discovery over the last 500 years with philosophical traditions that have survived for thousands of years, are breathtaking in their ability to reshape one's view of all existence and his/her position in it. Redfield may not have been the first to experience these insights, but no other writer of our time has articulated as many of these insights in one place or revealed them in such a compelling manner.

In Stephen Hawkin's A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME, the great astrophysicist laments that philosophers have not been able to keep up with scientific discovery. In THE CELESTINE PROPHECY Redfield helps us all catch up and then some!

Still skeptical? How then would you explain that THE CELESTINE PROPHECY was one of the best selling books of the 1990s? Or that it has changed for the better my life and those of countless others who have read it? I assume that there are so few reviews like mine in this place because most of the Book's fans have used it as a launching pad to continue their examination of life from a New Age perspective and simply do not visit this spot at Amazon. But I am certain that if they did, this space would be flooded by a tidal wave of similarly positive reviews.

If you're looking for a cheap adventure story, by all means read something else! If you're a philosopher who is interested in understanding WHAT LIFE REALLY MEANS in the year 2000, stop right here, purchase this book, and "do NOT pass GO or collect your $200" until you've read every last page! ...

Book Review: The Spiritual Journey
Summary: 5 Stars

Hello, I could be of help to those who hesitate in reading this book. In the end of 1993 someone told me to read this book. She felt a connection to me with CP. Because of her being a total stranger and how she approached me with this book, I thought she was weird. I knew someone who had this book and I borrowed it. It caught my interest and I bought one of my own, which I read twice. The energy is what caught my attention in this book. In time I began to practise the energy seen in plants and trees. I caught myself more involved in information about Aura's. At that time this book also lead me toward meditation. Eventually I found myself destine to seek deeper. I held a pen in my hand and asked what my destiny was? Why do these things happen and who is behind all this? Though this method did reveal answers, I thought Satan was behind it. Little do we know about the unknown...until we understand the love and understanding of our creator. God's techniques work mysterious in way's that are not commonly understood. Therefore, you need to understand the barricade that separates you from many hidden truths which is available for you to direct your destiny. If you are not rooted in what you believe to be true, critics can turn you toward doubt and fear. God is no fear nor is he punishing. The physical being connected to the external world, live's and applies the rules and theories, which deal with fear beyond the means of God. The soul is connected to the internal world where it knows peace and wisdom with God. The true characteristics of humankind develop these truths from within this realm. It is only known to that individual in spirit with spirit, whereas, beyond the means of God is Ego against spirit. Celestine Prophecy is a book that enhanced my hidden abilities to get me where I am today. I am the Author of "The Third Time Is Now" and neither does my book meet the writing Technques of today. Nevertheless, the importance lie in God's technique. This is something you will better understand on your spiritual journey. Book's such as Celestine Prophecy provokes the awakening within to begin the search in means of the soul. I hope you find my experience with Celestine Prophecy enlightening toward your own spiritual needs.

Book Review: Read it to experience real magic
Summary: 5 Stars

I can see that these days THE CELESTINE PROPHECY doesn't have as many fans as it used to. And I don't want to change anyone's opinion about it (you may like it, you may not), but in this review I'd just like to share my personal experience with this book with readers who are looking into buying a copy or borrowing one from the library.

Technically, THE CELESTINE PROPHECY may not be the best-written book ever. There have been many comments from disgruntled readers regarding the way author James Redfield wrote this book. In my case being a picky reader has not affected my reading experience when it came to this book. The novel (sometimes dubbed a "spiritual parable") is written using language that's quite simple and easy to follow. Maybe other readers wanted something a little more "grown-up" or "mature" in terms of the writing style, but the simplistic way that this was written worked very well for me. There are a lot of spiritual principles in THE CELESTINE PROPHECY that might be difficult to understand if they weren't explained as simply as they were.

And those spiritual principles--outdated though they might be for the advanced student of metaphysics--could be very inspiring for someone new to exploring their spirituality, or someone terribly down in the dumps. In my experience, reading this book in my college years (around 5 years ago) certainly helped me see beyond our physical world so that I could better understand the purpose of my life and not get stuck thinking negatively.

I'd like to share, too, that while I was reading the book, whatever spiritual principle was being discussed, I was experiencing acutely in my life. I got to see CLEARLY the energy around plants, and it was also at this time that I began to see the auric field surrounding humans.

For those only beginning to explore the spiritual world, you might want to give this book a try. I recommend it to you with love. :)

Book Review: Evidence is in your own personal experience
Summary: 5 Stars

When I first read the Celestine Propephecy I didn't give it much more thought than how great would this be if it were true. It kept my attention and left me wanting to read more. After reading the book I was left with a feeling of wanting more so I immediately went out and bought the 10th insight. For some reason after I bought the book I felt that it was not time for me to read it. Sounds nuts I know. It sat on my shelf for years and the story of the celestine became a vague memory. In 2003 I began having significant synchronicities in my life. Very similar to what the celestine talks about though I didn't connect any of this with the book. One of these synchronicities led me to a seminar and during the seminar the speaker was very enthusiastic about the celestine and recommended the movie. Within about 48 hours I was able to locate the movie and watched it. I was astonished. Yes I had read the book but it had been years ago. The movie was enough to help me remember more from the book. I had already been experiencing much of what the Celestine story is about. That is when I realized that though its a fictional book much of it was REAL. It wasn't REAL for me until I had time to experience enough to realize the connection. As soon as I finished the movie I ran to my bookshelf and found the 10th insight. After dusting it off I started it. Since then I finished the entire series and found the 11th insight to be my favoriate of all bc it did influence me on my path today. So I highly recommend the books and the movie. Though I do not believe its what opened me up I do believe it helped me understand my experiences so that I didn't feel so alone. Its such an amazing experience that you want to tell everyone but there are so few who have experienced any of this... its a little hard for them to swallow. Completely understandable.
