Book Reviews of The Capture (Guardians of Ga'hoole, Book 1)

Book Review: the Guardians of Ga'hoole, The Capture
Summary: 5 Stars

this book was fantastic, probably the best book I've ever read, it starts out with Soren, (a young barn owl, Tyto Alba) who is pushed out of his nest by his older brother, Kludd (Some brother!) While on the ground Soren is Capured by an older owl with bright yellow eyes, he is taken to St.Aggies academy for orphaned owls. A horrible place where the young owls are forbidded to ask questions, and worse of all, they get moon blinked (which is similair to brainwashing). While at St. Aggie's Soren meets three owls, Gylfie (and elf owl who soon becomes Soren's best friend) Hortense (a spotted owl who is unable to fly, yet she's the most beautifully moon blinked owl ever) and Aunnty (a snowy owl, and one of the pit guardians of St. Aggies) although Aunntie is all sweet in the beginning, she turns out to be the most brutal owl in all of St. Aggies. Soon Soren and Gylfie realize they will have to escape. But the only thing they can do is fly! Once out of St. Aggies Soren and Gylfie come across Twilight and Digger. Together the four owls form a band and seek out to find the great Ga'hoole tree (a lengendary place where an order of brave, yet true owls, rise from the blackness to perform deeds of nobleness)
A Great Book!

Book Review: Awesome Starting of Ga'hoole
Summary: 5 Stars

The Capture is an awesome starting to the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series. The book starts out with Soren, the main character, living with his family when he falls out of his tree hollow and is captured by a mysterious owl. The owl takes him to a strange place where there are other little owls like himself. They have to do mysterious things that Soren and his new friend have to find the purpose to save themselves.
Soren changes in many ways that create the Soren that you see in the later books. The changes are all for the best but some changes are created from reavling facts that are sad.
I love this book but it's not my favorite due to that it's more sad then the others in the series.

Other books in the series:

The Journey
The Rescue
The Siege
The Shattering
The Burning
The Hatchling
The Outcast
The First Collier
The Coming of Hoole
(And coming soon) To Be a King

This is one of my favorite series and I'm sad it's coming to an end. But I can look forward to the movies that are coming out! They can't possibly be as good as the books but I'm hoping they will still be fantastic!

> I think this is a wonderful book for people who love adventure
stories. The ages that people would most enjoy this book would be 8-12.
It has new excitement on every page, and you always want to know what's
going to happen next. There never seems to be a dull moment in this
book.

Book Review: I love it...
Summary: 5 Stars

Okay, first off, I'm 14, so I know I'm supposedly too old for this, but it's really appropriate for all ages, as long as you like fantasy. The whole concept of using owls as characters is very cool and unique, and immediately draws you in. Even once you get used to seeing things from the owl viewpoint, the plot is full of interesting hooks that will make you want to keep reading. The majority of this first book in the series revolves around two owls, Soren and Gylfie, and their escape from a strange stone "orphanage" where they are brainwashed and forced to perform endlessly repetitive tasks. By the end of the book, though, they've escaped and met two more friends, Twilight and Digger. The ending also leaves many questions unanswered, so that you'll read the second book (which is possibly even better than this one). If there is one thing I can criticize about it, it's that the story gets a bit confusing in the middle. You just have to stick with it. Otherwise, it's well-written, intriguing, and a great start to an excellent series.
