I first found this book on a camping trip I took with my dad and step mom. Found it in the top bunk of the camper and took it down and read it while we were driving to leavenworth. I think I was 12 when I picked it up, I thought it was an amazing read and really hooked me. The storyline was great and tragic. This was a read that I carried with me and when I saw the book sitting in a used book store a few months ago I knew I had to have it. I still remember the story well and it is now sitting on my bookshelf with all my favorite reads. Yes, I saw the movie, but I think this book is amazing in it's own right and I can't wait to take it off my shelf and read it again through adult eyesBook Review: A beautifully written and powerful story.

I've been reading with great interest the extreme polarity of reader's comments and personal reactions to this book. I just finished listening to the unabridged audio tape and found it - in my opinion - to be among the best examples of beautiful writing style and excellent story telling I've experienced. It's always worth noting when something stirs up such a mix of positive and negative response, especially since the negatives sound as though alot of inner anger has been stirred up! I for one, will see the movie again, read the book more closely, and give a repeat listen to the audio tape (beautifully read by the author).Book Review: Just one of the best !

I live in Iran and I'm a Persian 28-year-old lady ... I've watched the DVD ... at first just to pass the time and to improve my English as well ( as I'm an English teacher here )... but I can tell you now that I have watched it 3 times ... and since the moment I heard the film is shot out of a novel with the same name , I have been looking for the novel as well ... but my search has had no result till now ... the novel is not sold here in Iran ... Book Review: The most powerful book I've read yet.

I am in my mid 20's and have just begun reading novels and such. My mother actually lent me her copy of BOMC and I was skeptical about it. I have never read romance novels or anything like that, never thought that I would like it, but this book changed all that. I could not put this book down. It was powerful and sensitive, wonderful and magical. It was so many things, it's hard to describe. I actually wanted to read it again as soon as I finished it. I was sad that it was over so quickly, I actually can't wait to read the epilogue. To anyone who is pondering reading this book, please do, you won't be sorry.Book Review: Bitter sweet love

I'm a romantic at heart and this book makes me weep. It is just so heartwrenching when two people love each other the way they do and can't be together. Francisca will forever be haunted by her guilt if she leaves her children and husband. She did the right thing, but it was so painful to see her choose between the man she loves and her duty as a wife and mother.I just wish they can be together. What is even more sad is, they never met again. Yet that love remains. On the other hand, upon reflection, would that love still remain if she did choose to be with her lover ? The answer to that we will never know.
