Book Review: Good Book, So-So Title...
Summary: 5 Stars
THE BLADE ITSELF was an entertaining read. I live in the Chicagoland area so I definitely enjoyed the setting of the book. As for the plot, I felt it was "good realistic" meaning I put myself in Danny's shoes many times over the course of reading the book and found it difficult to foresee an easy resolution for his issues. I enjoyed the TITLE headings which help us get a 'taste' of each chapter (they weren't too long - another plus for me). Unless I missed the real meaning for the title, I think the author could have 'hooked' us more...sorry, nothing comes to mind at the time of writing this 5 minute review. I picked up the book because it was in a prime traffic area of Barnes & Noble (thank you B&N!).
I have been very impressed over the past few years with the publisher for this book: St Martin's Press/St Martin Minotaur. The new authors they have introduced are some of my new favorites:
- Brian Freeman (IMMORAL, STRIPPED, and STALKED - released later this month)
- Michael Koryta (TONIGHT I SAID GOODBYE, SORROW'S ANTHEM, and A WELCOME GRAVE)
- Marcus Sakey (A BLADE ITSELF)
Overall, I enjoyed it and I will definitely read the next book from Marcus Sakey.
