Could there be a more dramatic setting for the examination of spiritual and philosophical essence than a frozen moment on the eve of total war between kinsmen, friends, and brothers? It is this moment in the "war without" that is the starting point for the classic on the "war within" that comprises the Bhagavad Gita. More concise than the Bible or Koran, more accessible than the Daodejing, deeper than the Analects; the Bhagavad Gita deserves its place with these masterpieces of religious and philosophical thought of the ancient world.
