Book Reviews of The Beginning (Animorphs, No 54)Book Review: I can't believe it's over Summary: 5 Stars
I just finished #54, and in a shock induced stuper shuffled in to my room to write this review. For 5 years now I've anticipated and dreaded this moment. Now its done I know how it all ends, and honestly I'm sad, yes sad. For all of you yet to read this book do not get the wrong impression. It is by all means the best Animorph ever. But I'm dissapointed as well. So many questions answered, so many conflicts and plot lines resolved. Then the final page, not one fit for the last book ever. There is no real closure for our beloved animorphs. We do not learn what becomes of them, but at the same time I could not put the book down. And in typical K.A. style she leaves us some hope. "The Beginning" but of what, this book was the end. Can we expect more I hope so, but probably just wishful thinking. I loved the book, I will read it again, and everytime I'm sure I'll feel the same. These books have had an impact on me. I can't help it I've been reading them for 5 years. And this book really drives home the connection, you feel as if you know these people and you have to say good bye. Well I'll let you all go, and thanks for reading to the end of this review. I'm sorry I did not talk more about the book. But I can't ruin it for you all. You'll love it. Good bye animorphs, it has been fun.
Book Review: The countdown is over..... Summary: 5 Stars
The Animorphs have fought countless battles. They have won few and lost many. But they had always managed to survive and keep their identities as human teenagers a secret. Until the day when their secret was revealed, and they had to flee for their lives with their families to live with the free Hork-Bajir. It was then they realized that the war was drawing to a close - and it became even more clear that it had ever been before that a human victory was not guaranteed. They had always set certain limits for themselves - but in the face of the brutal Yeerk onslaught under Visser One, during which silent invasion became all out war, they began to cross the line and do things they never would have found acceptable before. And now the final battle is here. Six teenagers are humanity's last hope, standing against a powerful alien empire. The odds are against them. But they will do anything to save Earth. The best-selling Animorphs series comes to a powerful conclusion with The Beginning. I have been reading Animorphs for a long time now, and I am sad to say good-bye to Jake, Rachel, Cassie, Marco, Tobias, and Ax. But for us, the loyal fans, Animorphs will live on in our memories.
Book Review: I NEED ANOTHER! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been a faithful fan of Animorphs since day one. I must admit, I am now (August, 2002) still mourning for the Animorphs. And I must also admit that I am in a post-Animorph depression if you will. I grew up with Jake, Cassie, Rachel, Tobias, Marco, Ax and the others (I am now 19). This review is coming from a hard-core, loyal Animorphian.I did enjoy the last book, "Number 54 - The Beginning". However...even though I have no bad feelings towards K.A., I am left yearning for yet another book to wrap up the loose ends. This book was written well, but I would have liked to have known what happened to all the surrounding families of the animorphs. Also, I do feel an emptiness left behind with Rachel's death and especially not knowing what happened after they rammed the Blade ship in the end. I have my theories...things that are left unanswered but may someday be told...What was Rachel going to ask the Ellimist at the end of her life? Why stop at #54? Could "The One" just be another manifestation of Crayak? So many things, so little explanation. My point of all this babble: Great "last" book, but it leaves a feeling that this isn't quite the conclusion....
Book Review: Understandable Summary: 5 Stars
When I first read this book, I was as upset as all of you, maybe even more so. I'd been reading the series since the fourth one was current, and had bought them all the first day they came out. They may have been sagging in the middle, but my intrest and imagination held me into reading them still. When I finally got it, and read it, I was crying. I thought it was horrible, and noone should ever have to read it. I lay in bed that night, upset, and thinking. Then I thought. What would I have said if it had ended all happy? With Rachel and Tom back, everyone happy, and all? It wouldn't have been reality. It wouldn't have been KAA. I would have been just as upset with a happy ending as I was when I first read it. I picked it up again, yesterday, after nearly a year. Any book that can bring you the effect that it did when Rachel died or when she fought, or at the funeral... it has to be a well-written book. In all, think about it. What would you have said if all had been good? You would have said it wasn't her, it wasn't right, on and on. It isn't easy writing an ending to something so long and so popular.
Book Review: Who said life was fair? Summary: 5 Stars
I have loved Animorphs since the moment it came out. I have read every since book. I have loved, hated, sympathized with, and lived with these charaters for years. With that being said, here goes:I think the ending book was exactly what it should have been. They went out fighting, and that's the way it needed to be. There's no happily ever after here folks. If you're looking for a fairytale ending, don't read this. To all those who said it wasn't fair, they should have had beautiful lives for what they did: who said life was fair? This book was what it was, and no more. Even though their lives weren't, I thought this book was beautiful. I actually cried at the end. I didn't cry because of who died. It didn't even phase me. She was exactly where she needed to be. I cried for those left behind, and the effects on them. I have read this book three times. Much less then the rest of the series, because that's all I could handle. Finally I decided to come on here and check out the response. I was dismayed, I was disheartned. I guess you get it or you don't. I get you, K.A. Applegate. Nothing gold can stay.
