Book Reviews of The Beginning (Animorphs, No 54)

Book Review: Someone who appreciates the book's depth
Summary: 5 Stars

I've read numerous complainst about this book. People either seem to love it or hate it, I personally loved it. I admit, I had stopped reading Animorphs at one point simply because the books got too monotonous and cheezy for me. There were many great books in the Animorph series, but also many meaningless ones, "fluff" books. However, I was very impressed with the ending. KA successfully put together all the elements she had been building up to give us an emotional, fairly realistic and ingenious end to the war with the yeerks. Rachel was always my favorite character and my love for her has only grown, with her selfless heroic death. As for the other characters, their varied reactions after the war were very realistic, and inspired us to think about the aftereffects of war. War does not end all peachy keen, as KA was trying to explain in her letter. While Cassie was able to move on with her life and let go of her animorph self, the other character were unable to adjust to a normal life. Even Marco, who seemed content was bored and miserable. Throughout the series he had always been hiding such misery with humor, this book was no exception. Jake and Tobias, could not live dwelling on guilt and sadness, they found themselves best as fighters, as animorphs. So, I beleive, with KA's cliffhanger ending, she was paying tribute to Rachel, inspiring our thoughts, and showing us that our characters with their varied reactions to peace are still very much the animorphs we know.

Book Review: Perfect, realistic ending to a well-written series
Summary: 5 Stars

Sure everyone might say the series ended horribly. But hey like Applegate said,it's reality. Wars don't end all 'happily ever after'. In the world wars,we took on casualties. No war has ever resorted in a total peace without a bit of bloodshed. Someone had to die because wars are never clean and happy. The death helped create some more plot threads to extend. And the guy doesn't always get the girl in the end(not even in wars). KAA showed that wars don't always end all perfect and clean. She showed it as a grim reality that should help the young readers of the series get over the misconceptions of war. I must say that although I am a big Tobias fan,the death was good in that is portrayed him as the zoned out warrior who suffered great loss(like all the 'Nam vets). Sure the ending was a big cliffhanger, but KAA later stated that she did that for the fanfic writers. I loved the ending in that it made my imagination run wild on what happens next. And I loved how Marco and Jake and Cassie acted after the war. It was totally like them. And hey,Cassie even showed that love doesn't have be between main characters. Jake totally did what might be expected of him. Especially those trips to see Rachel. Marco, the guy seems to be the only non-casualty of war,the one warrior who totally got on with his life. Sure most might hate this book, but I loved it. This may just be the best book in the series. This book certainly deserves a perfect score,so I'm giving it one.

Book Review: EPIC
Summary: 5 Stars

(This is a review of, like, the last 3 books.)
I stopped reading Animorphs years ago. I chickened out, I didn't want it to end. But it was a great series and I never forgot it, so recently I picked up the last few books. And oh my god. They were so good. All right up until the end, they were soooo good. Usually books get all mopey and abstract and wistful and then they end and I feel sort of stunned and lost and spend the rest of the day wandering around all depressed.
What the hell is that??
No.
This was not like that. This was crazy, this was intricate, this was brutal, this was epic, (like Animorphs has always been, I guess, but I had forgotten how intense it actually was during the years when I wasn't reading it..) Jake's dirty tactics really surprised and impressed me, and it didn't just END, it actually wrapped up. It was very, very satisfying. And yeah, it went kind of totally crazy at the VERY end, but I like that. I like to know that life goes on. The Animorphs don't just get old and die all happy and together with their families. (Come on, they're 16, how depressing would that be if they lived to be old and wrinkled with nothing exciting ever happening to them again?) They'll be doing crazy stuff 'till they're a hundred and fifty.

PS I salute you, ______, you were one of my (5 or 6) top favorite Animorphs. (I could totally never decide.)

Book Review: Animorphs Let Down
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was a ripoff. I can't belive K.A Applegate let all of her fans down. There are going to be alot of why's and how's when you read this book. Why did she let Ax be taken over by an alien while she knows Ax would rather die instead of being controlled. She didn't even tell who took over Ax. How can she let Rachel die so easy? How can she let Visser One get away with all those brutal killings so easy just by staying in prison for the rest of his life ? K.A really put the fans down she should have let there be a open war. Why did she waste her time writing about the refuges getting ready in camp to fight with weapons? She didn't even give Tobias a chance to express himself in the last book. Only one lousy chapter for the son of Prince Elfangor. How dare her mess up one of the best series of books. I still like the Animorphs but I really lost respect for Mrs. Applegate. She didn't even let there be a big fight she let Visser One surrender so easy while that isn't really how Visser one is. If he is like that he should never came to Earth. K.a. was just b.s. her fans all the way she just worried about how much money was in her pockets and in her bank account. Animorphs will always be remembered but not the way the fans were expecting it .

Peace to the Animorphs and show love to them RyanRulz2All

Book Review: The final battle has at long last arrived....
Summary: 5 Stars

Rachel and the other Animorphs had fought a silent battle with the parasitic Yeerks for years, while the human race remained unaware. But now all that avoiding has changed. The human race is just as desperate as the Animorphs to defeat the Yeerks who will rule Earth forever if they're not stopped soon, and it's come to the final battle against the Yeerks to decide once and for all who will victor in the brutal war -- the Animorphs or the Yeerks. The world is terrified of this revelation that their planet may fall victim to the Yeerks. No matter what happens, Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie, Marco, and Ax know that if they want to save all they have tried to protect, they have to win this one. No matter what they have to face or give up. Because if they lose, it will be a battle lost that no one can correct. But will this war end in victory or tragedy for the Animorphs? No one knows who will win or lose. And no one knows who will live...or die. K.A. Applegate concludes the fabulous Animorphs series with an absolutely extraordinary and beautifully written finale. I would recommend it to fans and readers of the series everywhere, but I know that you don't have to be told twice to read this last and promising book in the series, Animorphs #54: The Beginning. It's fabulous in more ways then one, being the ultimate last -- and best.
