Before I had my children, I read a lot of baby books. After my children came along, I only had time to refer to the books when a need arose. The Babytalk Insider's Guide to Your Baby's First Year is good for both those who can read it straight through and those he need to use it as a reference tool.
Babies poop, spit, pee, burp, cry, and have umbilical cords that fall off. However, they are so adorable. All these issues are addressed in The Babytalk Insider's Guide to Your Baby's First Year. To use pacifiers, bottles, and cribs is debatable. The pro and con of each is discussed.
The health of mothers is often overlooked because of the cute, demanding baby. Postpartum bleeding, stitches, breast pain, and depression are addressed. Issues specific to adoption, twins, and special needs babies are mentioned.
Little tips are given along the way. They are usually highlighted on the side of the text, so even sleep-deprived mothers will notice them.
