I own alot of name books simply because the subject fascinates me. This book really isn't one of my favorites. The concept seemed like a good one. Instead of focusing on the definitions, orgins, etc. of names it looks at how various names are percieved by the rest of society. It is a great idea but unfortunately this book never reaches its full potential. I guess that I just found the results of this book to be bizarre (and not in a good way!). It is really hard to believe that people would describe the image that a particular name conjures up so specifically. I mean hair color, weight, personality, wouldn't everyone have a different opinion on this subject? The whole thing is questionable. Im not saying that the author of this book didn't do his research (I am pretty sure that the book would not have been published without legitimate sources checking the author's findings thoroughly). What I AM saying is that I could have written this book myself sans research and the general public wouldn't know the difference. Not a top pick.

This is the fist name book to provide information on what people think about names. With the information in this book, parents can pick a name for their child with positive connotations, and avoid names that might subject their child to teasing.
A total of over 100,000 parents were surveyed to determine the most common images people hold about the most popular names for babies. For this new edition, over 300 new names were added to the original 1,400 names, and many of the names were updated to reflect the most up-to-date information about the names you're considering for your baby, including:
