Book Review: The beginning of a series about McAvoy & McAvoy, father and son attorneys?
Summary: 5 Stars
As usual I enjoy most books by John Grisham, and this novel is not an exception to that enjoyment. The book reminded me of the Sackett novels by the master story teller Louis L'Amour. Grisham writes well, and I imagine he is also well-read and has, himself, read the L'Amour novels; thus, I am hoping that Grisham will write more stories about Kyle McAvoy and his dad, John.
"The Associate," in which we learn much about young Kyle McAvoy, is replete with mysteries, some of which are solved subsequent to the expected cliffhangers, and many of which have me wondering about the ethics, or lack of same, at megabuck, gigantic, power-driven law firms in the U.S. As in the L'Amour novels, "The Associate" includes numerous problems to be solved, or NOT, as is the case in real life situations. The story is woven into a masterful, page turner such that I was reluctant to reach the end of the novel. If it was the author's intention to leave readers hungering for more McAvoy adventures, he has succeeded--at least with this reader. I highly recommend "The Associate."
