Book Reviews of The Art of Sensual MassageBook Review: THE GOLD STANDARD IN MASSAGE Summary: 5 Stars
Whether you are a beginner at massage or a seasoned professional you have to own this book. The massage you will learn here is simply terrific. The techniques are easy to learn and work exactly as promised. As promised in the book, you will find yourself doing a real massage just hours after you get the book home. I own both paper and Kindle versions of "The Art of Sensual Massage." The photos are exquisitely beautiful and expand to fill the whole screen on my Kindle 3. I prefer the Kindle version because I can use it so easily while I am doing massage. I simply lay the Kindle 3 next to my massage partner and refer to the screen when necessary.
I've heard professional masseurs praise the power of these techniques. Really, it's like a great cookbook, more a wonderful experience than an intellectual exercise. Every stroke seems like it was hand picked for its power and pleasure potential.
I appreciated the simplicity and beauty of the presentation. I like the way you can learn just a few strokes at a time for a specific part of the body, such as the neck and shoulders. Each time I have used the massage techniques in this book I got compliments.
Book Review: Priceless instruction, buy this book! Summary: 5 Stars
I am so glad that I found this book.
Gordon Inkeles has mastered the sensual massage and his book does an incredible job of instructing the reader. As someone who has recently dived into the world of massage, I found my technique greatly improved as a result of this book. To the reviewer who claimed that the pictures were dated - that makes no difference. The pictures are essential to helping the reader master the techniques in a way that words cannot.
I used to just dabble in massage. I thought buying a bottle of oil and rubbing my partner was good enough. This book has taught me how to correctly give a massage in a way that relaxes my partner and strengthens the bond between us - and it was so easy to understand! After reading this book and applying Gordon's techniques, I now realize that sensual massage is a critical way to bond with your partner, regardless of if you are the giver or the receiver.
If you are thinking about getting this book, stop thinking and buy it! I promise you won't be disappointed!
Book Review: An Effective Tutorial Summary: 4 Stars
This book now comes with a 50 minute DVD which was a lot of fun. As a woman, I found I used many more of the techniques on my partner than vice versa, but we both found the photos inspiring and enjoyed the show. I think that from experience, I would recommend a little selectivity in which parts to try out. In cold weather, for instance, it can be hard to keep oils and bodies warm enough. Also, there is no mention that starting a sensual massage with the abdomen could cause the recipient to have to run to the bathroom before continuing on (healthful, but not sexy). All in all, it was one of the more user-friendly massage manuals I have purchased.
Book Review: "Updated Edition" yet severely outdated photos Summary: 3 Stars
Though the cover states "Updated Edition", be aware that the photos (except for the updated cover) are all from the early 70's, which may be an immediate turn-off to some people.
I have scanned the photos and added them above to give you a feel for what to expect.
In the intro, the 70's era photos are explained by the author: "To properly display Robert Foothorap's extraordinary massage photography this new edition has better quality paper than any previous printing. I've updated portions of the text to clarify various techniques, but retained all the photos - and the massage itself - from the first edition."
There's also a little deception here, since the cover photo has been updated and doesn't reflect the photography inside.
The text may be timeless, however, many will not find inspiration with the photography, or worse, will be immediately turned off. That would definitely not put you in the right mindset for "the art of sensual massage".
Book Review: great! Summary: 3 Stars
w have been using the book ever since we got it... we really like it, it seems a little bit old, the pics are like from the 60s but is the type of content that won't change on 50 years...
