Book Reviews of The Art of SeductionBook Review: Insightful! Summary: 5 Stars
This book met my expectations in every way. Greene explains the dynamics that all of us use to a degree, but without always realizing why. By being aware, however, the seducer can maximize what comes naturally. Greene is right that in a world where people are bombarded with messages competing for attention, it takes careful thought and planning to make yours noticeable.
Greene's choice of words reflecting manipulation and power did not bother me at all. Contrary to several other reviewers who considered such language unpalatable and demeaning, I thought it to be appropriate. We all manipulate others for selfish reasons to some degree in inter-personal relationships and that is not anti-social. Insinuation works, so I think it unfair to criticize Greene for using it so effectively. Overall, I think that this book makes me more cognizant of how to use the power of persausion in all aspects of daily living.
Book Review: Complex and introspective Summary: 5 Stars
I wonder if Greene is a psychologist.
It's impresive how well he grasps how the human mind works. This is his most complicated book from the Triad (first 3 books). If you want a person to want you, you have to enter her/his mind first. It's definitely not about simple tricks, or pick up lines, it goes far and beyond that. Those who discredit this book are naive and don't understand the mechanics of seduction. It can be used with one and all.
The chapter about the anti-seducer is worth the whole book! It's impressive how many men do what they shouldn't be doing: begging, bragging, talking about their weaknesses, etc.
Are you a Suffocator? Those fall in love with you before you're even half-aware of his existence.
Are you a Brute? Those have no patience, they're concerned only with their own pleasure, never with yours.
Awesome Book!
Book Review: Almost as beneficial as the Bible Summary: 5 Stars
Several months ago I only read the Bible. Now I only read the Art of Seduction and the Bible. this book is an eye-opener. Not just to get a girl or boy in your life, but it teaches you how people are and how you are.I must compliment the author. The writers of other books in this genre like Irresistable Attraction and How to get laid today- the system, need to read this book. It will help them to write better books that match the titles they put on them. The Art of Seduction is in-depth to say the least. Regardless to who you are or what you believe, you will learn alot from this book. This is a sort of handbook on how to get through life. Mr. Greene should produce a workbook and/or study guide to accompany this one. Its like an information treasure chest. If you are looking for books on self-help, relationships or otherwise, you need this one. Its not a want, its a need.
Book Review: History, Psychology, and Philosophy rolled into one. Summary: 5 Stars
Robert Greene is a highly talented writer. He uses history and psychology to back up his overall philosophy. The Art of Seduction is interesting both for its many stories and for the alternative philosophy.
Every reader will learn much about themselves in these pages, even if they choose to repress the part of themselves that Mr. Greene is trying to set free from the restrictive morality imposed on us by others. As the author reminds us, morality is just another effective tactic used by people to achieve their own goals.
That being said, a bit of common sense should be used. This book is an excellent starting point; and a great way to stir up thoughts in your brain, but the end result has to come from your own inflection.
I highly recommend this and other Robert Greene titles to everybody that has ever been born, ever.
Book Review: Delicious, enjoyable, and highly useful Summary: 5 Stars
Everyone, at some point, seduces another.
Everyone, at some point, is an object of seduction.
The trick is, in either role, to savour the moment. And learn from it. And that's what makes this book so very useful and enjoyable!
But you have to be prepared to put aside those ephemeral notions of "good" and "evil". And you might as well quit worrying about "manipulation", because every last human being manipulates. It's human nature.
This book is not merely about seducing someone for sex. What is it about? It is about making someone, or someones, react favorably to you, or to make them do something that you wish. To win them over, to attract, or to entice.
And I must say, this is one of the most delicious books I have read in a very long time!
